Ever Been On A Cruise?

Me and my kids go on cruises every December. I use Royal Caribbean because they have a lot of stuff for kids. They are a lot of fun. We always go for 7 day because it takes a couple of days (for me at least) to adjust. We always fly to Miami but last year the ship left out of Dominican Republic. They are a lot of fun!!! I'm always looking forward to going.

I've been on two and can't wait to go on another!

My first was the Pride of Aloha (Norwegian Cruise Line)through the Hawaiian islands. We flew to Maui and cruised from there.

My second was from Boston to Bermuda on the Norwegian Majesty. It's a smaller, older ship, but I loved it.

Both cruises were with large groups, so we are eager to do a cruise just the two of us. We've been looking at Princess's Mediterranean cruises since we both want to see Europe.

I warn you, they are addicting! I would go every couple months if time and money allowed.

Me and some friends started a traveling group about 5 years ago which has turned into a group of 40 people...We cruise as well as destination vacations..but I must say the Cruise was the most fun. There's plenty to do the ship is like a floating resort...lot's to do and you can always plan an excursion when you port at your destination...You're only out to sea (depending on where you're going and how long your cruise is) for maybe 2 days out of 7 and that's usally when the ship has tons of activities planned.

We've done Carnival (only on the newer ships nothing pass a year old) and RC... and RC is by far the best...just make sure not to go during hurricane season depending on the location.

wow lots of cruisers around here. I have only been on two one out of FL and one out of LA. I was really young but they were fun. Honestly the three day one was not enough, and the 7 day was plenty of time, by the end I was ready to go home.

I LOVED our cruise. We did a 7 day one to Mx and hit PV, Cabo and Mazatlan. The food rocked- I think I gained 20lbs. We went on Royal Caribbean and back in my college days, it was awesome because we purchased bottles of alcohol (2 bottles of Absolute basically for the price of one) and paid a fee to take it to our room- I can't remember what the fee was and just made mixed drinks to save money. It totally rocked.

As for the frat guys and hoochie mamas, I went during spring break. My friend and I were the only hoochie mamas (LOL) and we couldn't find any frat guys. It was basically families. Def not a single and ready to mingle crowd. We made friends with our dining partners- who had an awesome vacation home in Cali. They loved us so much by the end of the trip, they offered up their vacation home for us to stay in. We scored big time!

Awesome. Thanks for all the advice. I have a lot to look into.

Hahaha Jamy, yeah, FI and I are kind of on the anti-social side as well. I mean, we like meeting new people, but we, me especially, kinda like to do our own thing and don't like to do a lot of small talk stuff. I'm trying to broaden my horizons though!!

And that drink bill is definitely something to keep in mind. DH is primarly a beer drinker and he doesn't even drink a whole lot, but me... well I like those fancy mixed drinks and once I get on a roll, that bill racks up pretty fast!

Definitely go for the Beer Bucket then, it ends up saving a crapload of money for the beer drinkers. I don't drink myself, but my dad was plenty pleased with himself, carrying around his bucket.

I'll have to check and see what he spent, but I'm pretty sure it was something like $25 for six beers...in cruise prices, that's pretty good.

yes, the beer bucket is a good buy. also, on the carnival cruise i went on they had daily drink specials. we were sure to hit up nearly every one, and found that sticking to the specials helped keep our bar bill down. and if you're planning excursions anyway, choose wisely--some of them include all-you-can-drink rum punch and/or beer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
