Hi Kelley,

Check out the Jamaica section, Jennifer got married there I believe.

I think Jamaica would be a great destination for you since you are in Jersey - where are most of your guests located?

For me, I chose Cabo for several reasons, but mainly because my family is all in California & FI's family is in Arizona, so it seemed like a good compromise in terms of travel time & cost.

I love Jamaica though! I've been there 3 times & it's one of my favorite places in the world. I know you could do something really amazing there. Have you ever been?

All of our families are in NJ. I have a couple of friends that would be coming from San Fran(originally from NJ) but they are already aware that we are planning for Jamaica. It just seems more convenient since Jamaica is only 3.5 hours away compared to a lot of other places.

Where did you stay? We have never been there but heard great things.

I think Jamaica sounds like a great option for you then!

I've stayed at Hedo III (not recommended for a wedding unless you are nudists!), Grand Lido Braco & RIU in Negril. There are so many options in Jamaica. I really like Negril because you get the best of the beach & nightlife situation there. The Caves is an amazing & more private spot that I love. Rockhouse is a great place too, and more affordable. A Couples resort would be another option - they have one in Negril & one in Montego Bay I believe.

Are you looking to do an All inclusive resort or something more boutique-ish?

We are looking at AI, better deals for our guests. We were looking at Sandals Royal Caribbean but its a couples resort and many of our friends are single, so we don't want to make them uncomfortable. I noticed a lot of the resorts are couples or kids oriented.

We are currently looking at Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay. Its family oriented. We were looking at Beaches but its seems to be geared more towards kids, this resort is geared towards everyone.

Kelly-we orginally planned for Jamaica, but all our guests were coming from the west coast-it just wasn't going to work. Let me know if you need to know anything about Ocho Rios and Sandals or Beaches.

my fiance and i have chosen jamaica for many reasons. first and foremost, there is only a 24 hour wait period to get married. we are only planning on staying a week. some places, like turks and caicos for example, have about a 4-5 day wait. they speak english there which saves $$ on the documents (no need to translate). out of all of the english speaking countries in the carribean it is the most economical. it is a beautiful island, with a lot of history and character and are known for weddings.

we have not booked our resort yet but we are planning on booking at the new gran bahia principe. they have a beautiful white gazebo at the tip of the beach right on the ocean! they have lots of things to do as it is the largest resort on the entire island. it is good for adults, singles, and children. they have a mall/mini city on the resort with karaoke bar, disco, shops, and live entertainment. the hotel is open but not finished. it is still under construction and will not be complete for a few months. because of this, they have not been getting rave reviews....but by the time our wedding is here (jan 200cool.gif all the kinks should be worked out.

have you decided on a resort?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
