1st Attempt Centerpiece

Recommended Posts

So I have had this vision of a centerpiece in my head and could not describe it to anyone...this is basically it, but I would obviously not use my cutting board to place it on...anyway I tied a ribbon around the burgandy candle and put a monogram sticker on the ivory one. I have 20 of the green ones already, but most of them are taller, so the ivory and burgandy ones might need to be shorter for most of the tables. We are thinking of buying real grapes for the reception, who knows, maybe people will munch on them? I also don't really want to use flowers because since we are trying not to hire a florist I think that we would have to buy the flowers so early they would be totally wilted by the time people got into the reception, so I am trying to use the least amount of flowers possible. Another good thing about candles, we have to do our own lighting because the reception is being held in the fellowship hall of the church, so no lights can be on (that would be weird) so we are going to string lights all over, but it would be nice to provide some lighting at the tables.

I think those are great! And I love the idea of using real grapes so people can munch. I think using a mirror to set them on would look great & amplify the candlelight effect. Maybe you can go to garage sales & buy random silver platters &/or mirrors to use for this? They wouldn't all be the same obviously, but follow a theme.

Overall - great job! You are way ahead of the game girl!!

I love them! Great job- I would maybe hit the thrift stores and look for platters and mirrors, you can always paint them if they are not in the right color. I could also see them inside a grape vine wreath... I think a gal from the other forum I am on did something at a vineyard- let me see if I can find some inspiration pics.

Christine, perhaps I am biased since I also did fruit centerpieces but I love it! Definitely stick with the grapes and save money on flowers. Also, I like Christa's idea of finding lots of silver platters, but mirrors would work well too. I'll keep thinking for other ideas too. How many tables will you have?

The grapes are a great idea - really creative and they will be great with your theme. Check to be sure that your reception location will allow the candles - here in the US some places have strict rules about fire permits - i would hate for this to be an issue later....they look great though!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
