I am getting married at the Moon Palace in November, and my fiance and I would like to have a fun place to take our friends/family after the wedding and reception to party. Our options are going to the disco at the Moon Palace or trying to get everyone to Cancun.

1. Has anyone been to the disco or heard anything about it? What is it like? Is it fun, lame?

2. Has anyone used a private transport system to get a large group to Cancun and back (not the daily shuttle since this would be later at night and we want the entire group to get there at one time)?

Thanks!feedback.gif

The discotheque at the Moon Palace is okay. Its kind of like the clubs in the US, they play techno and dance music and a bunch of drunk people dance around. If you have a large group of people with you, it should be pretty fun. As far as going downtown, the two times we were there, we went to Senor Frogs through the hotel. The hotel chartered a bus for its guests. It was about $25 per person, but it included all you can drink bracelets at the club. It was such a blast, the bus had black lights and a cool sound system, we danced in the middle of the bus on the way back from the club. I know they did the same thing for other clubs too, but we didn't have the time to do those. They do a few clubs each week, you just need to find out when.

When we were at the disco at MP there were a lot of younger kids and honestly we didn't hang around too long. However, if your whole group is there it doesn't really matter where you go - you'll bring the fun!

I haven't even given it though! I've got as far as the reception and stopped! This thread is likely to come in useful for me then!!

I like the idea of everyone going into Cancun, but I have a feeling alot of our older guests will give it a miss. Oh I don't know, i'll wait and see how long we have the reception for. We are going to have the outdoor reception, and I know you can keep paying for the staff for longer in the night....i think we will do that tbh

I was afraid the disco wouldn't be that great, plus we thought it would be fun to get at least the younger crowd to Cancun to celebrate.

MoonPalacePookie - did you just set it up at the hotel that day or did you plan ahead? Do you know if we could contact someone at Moon Palace and get information on it ahead of time - to at least make sure they are going somewhere that night, etc...?

We didn't set this up, the hotel does this on certain days of the week. Its open to all guests, there were only about 15 of us when we went. They do Senor Frogs and a couple of other clubs. I would ask your wedding coordinator or someone from the hotel. Its part of the weekly activities they put on that include the circus night, mayan night, etc. Have them provide you with a schedule for that week (if they are available that far ahead).

The past few times I've been to the Moon Palace, they've had a "bus trip" every night. I think they go to the more "popular" clubs (i.e. Coco Bongo and The City) a couple of times per week and then some other random ones on the other days. This may only be during peak times, though... I always remember seeing it around Christmas and in March and April.

Hi there...

I got married at MP a couple of weeks ago and have to say that I loved the disco at the MP. We went there almost every night. Sure it was all the same music, really loud, etc, but as someone who doesn't dance all that often, being on vacation made everyone in our party cut loose and have a great time! I loved that it was right there and that we didn't have to take a 25 minute taxi ride up to the bars.

We did plan a shuttle through Elite Travel for one night into Cancun for a small group of girls (14 of us) and it was $59 one way. We actually ended up cancelling it at the last minute b/c several of us were super hungover from the night before, and the rest had plenty of cocktails with dinner and didn't know exactly how long we'd make it in the night, and didn't want to be so far from our resort...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
