I'm back! With post-Derby depression

Wow! I have like 5000+ new posts to catch up on! You gals had a busy weekend.

I'm in the crash and burn phase. Being a caterer, Derby is my second busiest season of the year. In the last 96 hours, I worked 81. I'm a little delirious!

This is always such an exciting time of year. There's about 3 weeks of festivites leading up to the actual race. When it's over, teh whole city is kind of in a coma, stumbling around trying to re-group and make plans for the next year.

It would have been so much better had the race not had such a tragic end. The place horse (2nd) fell and broke both front ankles and had to be put down on the track after she crossed the finish line. I cried when I heard it on the radio (I wasn't at a TV to watch). We've had a lot of high-profile losses in the last few years with Barbaro, Breeders Cup, and now this.

Welcome back! Glad you can finally relax! It totally broke my heart to hear how that philly ran to the finish line with two broken legs and finished with her heart! She kicked some boy butt! The majesty of racing horses is incredible!

I am sorry it was such a tragic end, there have been some really high profile situations lately, I was watching the race when Barbaro fell, so incredibly sad. I am so sad for the philly, she was making history by just being in the race and did girl horses proud I think!

Oh I was in a bubble- I hadn't heard of this til now. that breaks my heart! They had to kill her? Didn't seabiscuit have something wrong with him and they didn't kill him after all? That's terribly depressing.

I'm so glad you made it through the work week though. That's a ton of hours girl. Shouldn't you still be sleeping?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
