Hollow to hem, huh? Sounds like a good idea.
I actually am 4 foot, 11 and 3/4 inches. I just bump it up to 5 feet to make myself feel better.

My younger cousin tried to convince me that any adult shorter than 5 feet is legally considered a midget/dwarf. HA HA! It's not true, it's anyone under 4 feet 10 inches! I wikipedia'ed it. woot.gif

I've been having issues with the hemming of my dress b/c of my height. I'm nearly 5'3" and I want to be barefoot for the ceremony, but I have 2 pairs of shoes: one pair are flats with a mini heel about 3/4" and the other is about 1 3/4". When the seamstress hemmed to barefoot and then asked me to put on the 2nd pair of shoes you could totally see them... so she's going to hem to the shoe length. Now I'm worried about tripping while in the sand!

Veil: I'm getting one that is about 30" long. It should end up about at my waist. Any longer and I was worried it would make me look uber-short!

Haha people would always say that to me as well since Im barely 5ft tall. As for a dress I went with a short option as well. I like the tradition long ones but they just seemed to over power me since im very petite all around. Im also having a barefoot ceremony but am going to buy some kick butt shoes to show off at the reception!heres my dress

Haha I was hoping there was a thread for all the BDW shorties! This past weekend I tried on veils at a trunk show and found one that I like but it's almost fingertip length. I don't know if a longer veil makes one look super short or taller or no difference at all -- I have such a bad eye for these things. Gotta consult the other shorties on the forum! lol I think it might be too overwhelming, so I'm going to look for a shoulder or elbow length. It wasn't too hard to let that veil go as it was a few hundred dollars -- yikes!

Another short bride here. I'm 5'1" and my fiance is 6'1". I always wear high heels so I don't look AS short next to him. When I ordered my dress, I had them measure me in 3 inch heels since that's what I always wear and I wanted to wear fun shoes on my wedding day. Now I'm starting to think I was crazy for doing that since I'll be getting married in the sand and my feet are probably going to kill at the reception but too late now... haha.

I was getting discouraged with dress shopping for awhile because I felt like I looked more "first communion" than a 25 year old bride since so many of the really pretty dresses swallowed me up. rolleyes.gif

I'm almost 5'1", so my dress is getting cut- I'm wearing 3" heels no matter what (I bought some Nomad flip flops that are nice and tall (Nomad Kiki Wedge - Teal - Free Shipping & Return Shipping). I'm planning to wear a chapel or cathedral length veil- I love the look and when I tried them on at the store, they didn't make me look really short or anything. Of course, my dress is really simple as well, so there isn't much to swallow me up:).

Yay for other short brides! It seems like all you see are glittering Amazons, and I just don't fit that look!

Good find on the shoes! Are you having a beach front ceremony? I am planning on going barefoot for a beach ceremony, but now I am tempted to look for a pair of shoes that may possibly work for walking on sand if one exists! Barefoot would be comfy and fun, but I would like a little height and also to wear fabulous blue heels for the reception! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
