Assigned seating?

Recommended Posts

hey ladies..what's your take on assigned seating for a group of 30?

The makeup of our guests will be 1/3 family and 2/3 friends and we're having 3 rounds at our wedding. i'm torn between keeping it casual and let everyone sit where they please or assign seating so everything is as organized as it possibly could be!

Also not sure where we should sit. I feel alientated if we sit at our own special table but how do we decide which table to sit at? Everyone is equally as close to us as th next...

What's your take?

IMHO, assigned seating even for a small group of 30 just makes things easy for everyone involved. At my AHR (for group of 30), I didn't have assigned seating and I wish I did. Everyone just kind of stood around and were hesitant about where they were sitting. Then they were single chairs left empty when late comers came who needed 2 seats together. I wanted to rip my hair out. Assigned seating would have taken care of that headache.

We are not going to do assigned seating at all. We are saving 3 tables for our immediate family, FI and I. But as for the guests they get to pick where they want to be seated. I have seen this performed at 3 other weddings and it was very easy and that way everyone got to sit with whom they wanted to.

I agree, we did assign seating for the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding reception and everything worked like a charm. I recommend it, otherwise people will not be sure of where to sit.

we had 30 people - 8 from my family at one table, 10 from his family at one table, 10 of our friends at a table, and us 2 at a sweetheart table. i didn't assign specific seats, just tables. i feel like it was easier for everyone, and it wasn't like they had to stay seated the entire time; obviously people got up and talked whenever they wanted.

I would go with assigned seating. I went to a larger wedding of a family friend without assigned seating. It was awful! People took our seats when we went up to the buffet so we had to split up with random people we didn't know, it was weird.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
