I would definitely suggest David's Bridal for anyone getting started. They have tons of styles in every size, so you can really get a feel for what looks good on you and what may not. It may just be a fact finding mission, but I think its definitely worth the trip :)

I think A-line is the most flattering silhouette b/c it canvases the hips, butt, and thighs. IMHO, if you have a larger chest, you might want to avoid a halter neckline b/c it tends to emphasize the bust. I am a DDD and anything halter just makes me look like one big boob. Also, I know a lot of girls like Davids Bridal and I think they are great for some people, but I felt like I looked bigger in their dresses than I did in dresses from other bridal stores. I think the way they are cut just didn't fit my body shape well. So if you go there, you might also want to go to a few other places just to compare. Happy shopping!

Mori Lee is another designer that carries larger sizes as well, they're pricey but beautiful. I tried on one that I totally feel in love with it was champagne, lace and beaded and had this beautiful ruffle trim around the train and the bottom of the dress... it was strapless and I don't think it's the most flattering on me but....it can be done.

I too got mine at David's Bridal. The great thing there is they have all the sizes to try on so you can actually see how it fits on you. I was pleasently surprised to see I could pull off a strapless A-line, I never thought these hooters (DD) could do it but with the proper fit it looks great. It makes you feel much better about yourself too when you can try it on. I hate when you try on a sample and it barely gets past your curvy hips. Good luck!

Davids is great if you need a dress quickly. I personally didn't have mcuh luck there, but I think it was much more because of the sales associate at my store than anything else.

Alfred Angelo has some beautiful plus sizes as does Casablanca (my dress).

It is hard to try on lots of dresses that won't zip! I think you can get a general idea though.

A-Lines are always flattering. I would probably stay away from an empire waist as they can make you look bigger. For me, halters are not very flattering. I have a small frame with some extra padding, so I look like I'm being swallowed, or I look like a hooker with my boobs out for the world to see.

The best advice is to jump right in and, no matter what, DO NOT LOOK AT THE SIZE TAG!!! Bridal wear is tiny! My dress was 4 sizes bigger than my street clothes, just to get it to zip over the girls. Also, don't discount anything. The dress I ended up getting would never have been my choice if I had just seen it in a magaize, but it was the one that looked the best!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
