To JennyK and Mrs. Martin,

Thank you so much for posting those pictures of the resort and beach area. That really helps.

Mrs. Martin, Sol Tamargo Photography...Wow! They do some excellent work but ouch! They look pricy! But I definitely got some good ideas

No problem!! good luck with your planning!

Regarding Del Sol Photography, yes their work is excellent!!! I couldn't afford to hire Sol or Matt, but their associate Vincent was in my budget, so we hired him. Matt and Sol both edit the pictures, so no matter what the "Del Sol signature" quality is there! I'm sooo excited to work with Vincent and I know he's going to do an excellent job as well!!

Definitely let me know how everything goes. I am really leaning towards RPLA for my wedding location. I have read several reviews on here and looked at lots of pictures and I just really like it. Where are you having your ceremony? On the beach or the gazebo? I really like the beach idea and while I know there are nicer beaches outside the hotel zone in Cancun, I really love how central the hotel is and I'm more familiar with that area. Anyway, I'm sure I will have more questions for you. I hope you don't mind!

I don't mind the questions, I'm glad to help!! To be really honest, the main reason I chose this hotel from the rest is because when my FI and I stayed there last year, we were so impressed with the hotel and their service. We wanted to make sure that if our guests were going to be spending $$ on staying at a hotel, that they will be getting their $$'s worth. Although there are pleny of other beautiful hotels in Cancun, it was important to us to be able to trust the hotel on what it actually looked like beside pics online, what the food tasted like, the location (which is walking distance from all the bars/clubs) and the customer service they had and they truely met all those expections.

To answer your question,we are getting married at the gazebo and it overlooks the ocean (I believe I added a pic of it previously). Feel free to ask anything else...

OK, I just put in my wedding request for RPLA! smile29.gif

I though I would explain why I chose this hotel but first, I really want to give a shout out to this website. It has been sooo helpful in gathering information on different resorts. I have spent the past month just reading reviews (and learning to navigate the forum) and I really appreciate all the resort details and awesome wedding ideas! I'm so happy to have found it!

Reasons I picked Riu Palace Las Americas:

1. Did you see Mrs. Martin's pictures? Gorgeous!

2. Central location. Resort is close to the clubs, shopping, ferry to Isla Mujeres, etc. (I have a wide age group coming and lots of partiers so I need options)

3. Cost. Its not the most expensive resort but not the cheapest ~$330/night

4. Access to all Riu resorts. This may not seem like a big deal but I found it to be really useful when I went to Cancun before. Plus, I think RPLA is more for adults (although I do have two younger kids coming) so I would rather stay there. However, we can walk next door to hang out at Riu Cancun (where the club is).

5. The wedding package. I chose the Riu Royal wedding package, which is good for up to 50 guests. I'm not going to be very picky about extras at my wedding so this package has pretty much everything I need.

6. Beach wedding! I really want a wedding in the sand and this resort has that option.

7. No private reception. This isn't really a reason why I picked this resort, but I don't really care about a private reception so I didn't pick something else.

So, those are my reasons. I'm excited for the wedding, but I'm also excited to hang out with my guests and just have a good time. And do a lot of this! shots.gif

Congrats on picking your resort cheer2.gif

Have you heard back from the coordinator yet to confirm your date? It took almost a week for them to reply to me.

Your guests sound like mine, all they want to do is party! The location is perfect for that because I already know our friends are going to be drinking at the hotel, walking to every bar downtown and drinking there, then when the sun starts coming up they will walk back to the hotel and drink some more!

Good luck with your planning and again, I will keep you posted on all the info I start receiving from the coordinator these next few weeks!

I haven't been contacted by the WC yet but I did recieve an email saying they received my request. I put it in on Friday afternoon and the email says it could take up to 10 days for them to send a confirmation code. Unfortunately, they didn't have the Saturday available I was hoping for so I booked for Friday.

Oh man, I just realized our wedding date is 9/11! I hope that's not bad luck! Well, I definitely won't forget our anniversary. doh.gif

Yeah, I think my guests are mostly going to be friends so it will probably be a little crazy. I'm considering that Booze Cruise to Isla Mujeres friday.gif

Mrs. Martin,

I do have a quick question for you. Do you know the name of the WC? I'm working on booking Vanessa Vargas as my photographer. (I'm so excited she is available because I love her work!) Anyway, Vanessa needs the name, phone # and email of the WC, but I don't even know who that is. I can email the hotel too but I thought I would just ask you.

Thanks!

Amy

    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
    • Minimalist wedding bands look so classy and timeless regardless of the venue.
    • It's hard to estimate. Some receptions don't need much decorating because it's already beautiful. Some receptions need lots of decorating. Some receptions also come with extra decorating equipment already.
