Hi everyone! So I just decided to have our wedding at the hilton and I am so excited. Especially after hearing reviews from ppl coming back from the hilton and how they had a great wedding.

As for the answers to the questions....

1. When is your wedding and # of guests? Hindu traditional wedding, 125-150 guests

2. Ceremony location? Miramar ballroom (I didn't want my guests to be sweating in their saris :) Although I would have loved to have it outdoor

3. Cocktail hour location (if you're having one)? Near all the many pools

4. Reception location? By the pool. May decide on Miramar garden. We will be doing another site visit later this year prior to the wedding.

5. What vendors are you using (minister, photog, florists, dj/live band, etc). Minister: from home (hindu priest), Florist- with hilton, DJ/Live band: from home (its actually cheaper for us), or may even just use an IPOD and the sound equipment at the hilton

6. Any additional fun info about your wedding, pics, etc!

- Fernanda allowed us to pick and choose what we wanted for our menu since we required an ALL vegetarian menu (which cuts down our options quite a bit).

Questions for other hilton brides:

1) Have any of you checked out the villas? How are they compared to the rooms at the hilton?

2) Have any of you used outside florists and is this a lot more affordable? Some of the centerpiece prices were out of my budget...

Thanks!!

Opice - we're booked for the week before you - November 8th. Any pictures you have to share would be great.

Can't wait for Indy to get back so we can all see her pictures.
Hey! Have you gotten your contract back? does it have that weird insurance clause on the back page? If so, what are you doing about it?

PLEASE HELP: CONTRACT ISSUES: INSURANCE CLAUSE

Ok. So I am growing kind of frustrated about the Insurance clause in the contract. It sounds like Indy and Opice both got it taken out without too much trouble. Sooo I emailed her about it and she sent me two US Insurance companies to contact. WHen I called, they said they wouldn't do it. So I told her this, and she said she was dealing with the legal department there and they would figure out. She then emailed me again to say to check with my Homeowner's Insurance (which I don't have since we rent), or to try a major insurance company. I told her I tried that (which I did) and it didn't work. So then in her last email she said ok and then gave me a number to an insurance place which she said they highly recommend, that they know can do it. I'm sooo frustrated though, b/c I don't WANT the insurance! It requires a minimum of $1,000,000 and that will cost me a few thousands of dollars to get!! That is DEF not in my budget! Plus, insurance like this should be something that we have the OPTION of getting, but aren't required to. But apparently thats not flying here. HELP - what do I do? I can't afford to buy insurance!!! sad.gif

Actually, I didn't get the insurance clause taken off ~ it wasn't on our contract at all! They must have just started doing this recently. We signed our contract in March.

We got that clause taken out of the contract. You are doing the right thing. Just don't back down. We had to go back and forth a few times for them to agree to it. Let them know that you tried everything that they suggested but it just isn't possible.

I haven't received my contract yet, and i'm worried that i'm going to have the same problem with the insurance clause!! How much does it cost for insurance? i'm considering about going with my second choice of wedding site if this is too hard to deal with? I'm already a little frustrated that Fernanda takes so long to reply! Jessica keep us updated on what happens....hopefully you can get out of it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
