How long are table cloths?

Recommended Posts

Most of you know that I am going for the "one long" reception dinner table. I can not get my linens thru the Hilton so I am looking at the cost to rent them vs. buy them. I am wondering...how long the table cloth should go down around the table? I know the table measures 3' wide by 6' long and i will be putting several of these together to make the arrangement that I have in mind. Should the table cloth go down the ground or only hang over a foot or 2 feet or what? I will also be using chairs with covers so I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Has anyone every made their own table cloths, table runners or chair bows? Seems pretty easy since it is just a big rectangle but I don't know if I am crazy to think this way.

I'm planning to make my own tablerunners. I think I'm going to have them drop about 12 inches from the table top.

Here is some info on table cloth drops...

Casual or everyday tablecloths: the drop is 10-12†or about 1-2†above the chair seat.

Formal dining tablecloths: the drop is 16-24â€.

Floor-length tablecloths: the tablecloth reaches to within 1/2†of the floor (about 28-29â€).

If you want to research making your own tablecloths, check out this site..http://www.sewing.org/enthusiast/htm...blecloths.html

I personally wouldn't want to make tablecloths...I think the fabric might get expensive.....tablerunners are going to be a big enough PITA for me.

Thanks for the tip on the size - I actually found a great site for table cloths that are priced well. It is near where my FI works so I called and paid for them and he is going to pick them up. Check out Linens

if you need these. I am paying $77 including tax to buy 7 black table clothes that measure 70" x 120". If anyone wants to buy these after 07/07/07 let me know. I don't think I will have any need for them after that!

I picked these up today and they are perfect - just wanted to tell you ladies who might need to order table cloths so that you can get in on the great prices----it was cheaper for me to buy these than it would have been to rent them! I got black but they also have other colors. smile29.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

I know me and my crazy size questions but here goes another one....sorry....

my tables are 6' x 3' and I am going to put 6 together so that everyone can sit at one large table together:

1) how wide should my table runners be? I am making them myself and wasn't sure what the width should be in relationship to the 3' wide table width.

2) How wide are chair bows? I know they are generally 90-100" long but not sure how wide across the back of the chair they should be.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
