Any RIU Tropical Bay Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm getting married April 8, 2009 at the RIU Tropical Bay and was wondering if there are any other brides out there who've been married or are going to get married there? I'd love to see some pics or hear any advice if you've got it!

Thanks!!

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

We looked into getting married at Tropical Bay because some of our Jamaican friends said the beaches in Negril are the best in Jamaica. But when we were trying to book online, they had all of July 08 - December 08 grayed out. We later found out that they are going through renovations during that time. So we chose Ocho Rios.... But we had friends who went there on vacation last year, they loved it.

I have April 17th '09 reserved for RIU Negril. I originally wanted Tropical Bay but I was told that they can not accomodate a private reception, which is what I want. I have to make my decision soon --this is so stressful! I'm worried about making the wrong decision... sad.gif

I'm glad to see that someone else is going to be going through the same things as I am, and around the same time. :)

I'm likely to be at Riu Montego Bay in March 2009. The resort doesn't open till Sept this year, so we can't book our wedding date till then...but we are very close to purchasing the flights and hotel.

If something happens and the hotel doesn't open on time they will send us to one of the other resorts...so I could turn out to be a ROR or RTB bride in the end

I too have heard about the renovations at Riu TB. I have heard they are in order to turn the place into a Riu Palace of which there are none in Jamaica. My friends have been to Riu Palace in other places and really loved them. FYI :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
