Hmm let's see. I've met a few famous artists through our gallery: Peter Max, Pierre Matisse (Henri Matisse's grandson), Alexandra Nechita (child prodigy), and Amanda Dunbar. You might recall Amanda Dunbar from Oprah - she was also a child prodigy. I actually know her fairly well, as we're the same age and my Dad and her exhibited in the same gallery some years back.

Saw U-2's lead singer (so bad, can't think of his name right now) while out entertaining Pierre Matisse.

We sat next to Troy Aikman last week at dinner.

OH, my friend (who does PR for our gallery) met Charles Barkley and they exchanged numbers. Well, a week or two ago she was over here and we had been drinking mimosas all day. FI thinks it's super cool that she has his number so she called him and put it on speaker phone. It was pretty hilarious. He was TOTALLY hitting on her!! At one point I accidentally bust out laughing so she took it off speaker phone - lol.

FI has met Marc Cuban a couple times. He also met Jay from Jay & Silent Bob when our gallery hosted an AFI event. FI bartends for our gallery and said he came up and asked if we had Red Bull. We didn't so he left. lol

We also know a lot of local celebs - mainly radio personalities as one of my Dad's best friend has a show on 105.3 (for those of you in Dallas).

Dallas is a good place for celeb sitings.

Pugs of Pugs & Kelly by chance? I was thinking that from something else you posted a while back but didn't ask about it at the time. he seems like a cool guy...my sister totally got me hooked on that show a while back and now I'm a pretty serious Jagger show fan. I actually listened to them back at the Edge, but think they're way better now at the new station.

Actually the guy I'm talking about is Emil Cerullo from The New You Show but yes we do know Pugs too - him and Emil are really good friends :)

Very cool!
Yeah, that was awesome. He told us stories about growing up with Picasso. Amazing! He's 80 and talks in a really thick French accent all the while cussing like a sailor. LOL Such a cute guy!

I met the lead guitarist of "Autograph", Johnny Cash, and the guy who played Ned Cunningham on General Hospital (all in the St. Louis Airport and/or the Cedar Rapids Airport).

I got hit on by Tracey Gunz (LA Guns) when I was 16 and followed his tour bus to an autograph signing.

When I was 16, I sang at Kennedy Center for a Fourth of July celebration for Ronald Reagan.

I used to dance for Lords of Acid in my mid 20's, and I used to party with the guys from Stomp every time they came thru town during my mid 20's also.

I also met Shawn Michaels (WWE fame) back when he first started with the American Wrestling team after he left San Antonio. (I was drinking with him backstage for one of his shows and wound up with an autograph on my boob when I was 14. hehe)

Because of Frank's involvement in music for so many years, I've met quite a few of his friends (some who are fairly well known, and some who are really well known), as well as gotten VIP treatment at concerts and met quite a few famous people that way.

Friends of Franks:

Drowning Pool singer (Dave Williamsm before he died), Chuck Rainey (played with Steeley Dan, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes), Vickie Carr (family friend of Frank's mom and dad; was famous in the 60's), Trini lopez (Frank's godfather; famous in the 60's and was asked to design a guitar for Fender), "Dimebag" Daryl (Pantera), Bret Hoffman from Maelvolent Creation (engaged to Frank's best friend).

Stevie Ray Vaughn (a close friend of mine's husband grew up with Stevie and played in his first band with him)

Met backstage or drank at "private" bars after the shows:

Kid Rock, Gwen Stefani, Sevendust, Jacob Dillon from the wallflowers, Shaun Salt from White Zombie, Kitty, Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20, Stabbing Westward, Frank Beard from ZZ Top (his daughter went to school with Frank), KMFDM, , Clutch, Chevelle, Static X, Cannibal Corpse, , Glen Benton from Deicide (very funny guy!), Whitesnake, Enuf Znuf, System of a Down, Gwar, 3 Days Grace, Mushroomhead, Kill Hannah, Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden (much shorter than you'd think in person), Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath, Fu Manchu...

It was pretty awesome because she is super famous, just thinking that she was married to the King was crazy! And seriously, she has flawless skin! I know she has work done but so what :P

  • 1 month later...

I've met quite a few...I work at the University of Chicago Medical Center where Michelle Obama works...so I would see her..very personable and down to earth...Great lady...

LL Cool J..he was a prick...a cute one though...

Jay Z...backstage at a concert with R. Kelly whom I'm ashamed to admit I know (he's soon to be my BFF X).

I meet Oprah...she seemed so distant...I would guess it's a lot like robot work after so many years....probably takes something special to move her or maybe protected is the right word instead of distanthuh.gif?

Erykah Badu and her then baby Seven at O'Hare airport...really short like 4'11 short..but pretty..she reminded me of an alien

Big Boi & Andre 3000 (Rap Group Outkast)....at a party years ago...another group who is extremely short...what is it a pre-req to be famous is being shorthuh.gif?

Kanye West- at a release party for my cousins..he did 4 or 5 tracks for them...he's also really short

Common (Rapper/Actor- in the new movie with Angelina Jolie) aka- Rasheed- use to hang out with him in the studio with my BFF...nice cat...lovable and laid back!

Jaime Foxx & SWV (R&B Group from the 90's) at a party in Tampa...really cool people

I'd have to say I'm not overly impressed with the hollywood thing...It's cool but I like it when people do things that are memorable...are great citizens..I totally love the fact that someone wrote about some Nobel Peace Prize winners...how cool is that!

I met Britney Spears a LONG time ago... you know, before she went completely nuts! lol She was a lot smaller than I thought she was going to be and very quiet.

I also "met" Orlando Bloom, but he doesn't know it. lol I was in the Bahamas when they were filming Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and the last day of shooting the whole crew came to the square to celebrate. Anyway, Orlando and his gf at the time Kate were there and we were dancing next to each other in the same crowded bar. My butt touched his butt! I tell everyone I danced with Orlando Bloom... he just didn't know it. wink.gif He is much better looking than I thought he was.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
