Should I do hair and makeup trial at home?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if I should do a hair and makeup trial at home first. I won't have time to do a trial in Mexico. I have my inspiration pictures and am wondering if it would be necessary to get trials done by people that won't be doing my hair and makeup on the actual day. At the same time, I've never had my hair or makeup done before, so maybe it's a good idea to go in and see what it would look like? Not sure what to do!

I personally think it's a good idea! The hairstyle/makeup that you have as your inspiration might end up looking alot more different on you than you expected & IMO that's not really something you want to find out on the day of your wedding! I would say go for it!

i didn't have a trial for either, but knew exactly what i wanted for hair and makeup. i knew that my hair would look fine in the chosen hairstyle, and wanted my makeup to be neutral colors w/ my eyes popping.

if you've never had your hair done, i'd say go for it...if you don't want to spend the cash, you could get your makeup done for free at a makeup counter.

Totally agree with Lauren about makeup... go to the department stores and have them make you up for free. I did get my hair done before going, but it honestly looked different on my wedding day. Similar, and I'm glad I got it done because I was stressing, but don't expect it to be identical...

Okay I didn't do either but it's up to you and how important your chosen style is. I had a BM do makeup because she used to do it professionally so I trusted it would turn out well. Hair I wanted simple and it turned out fine. If you have a specific look in mind and are nervous about it then a trial wouldn't hurt.

I think I will do a hair trial at home with my stylist... that way we can play around and see what works. When I find one I like... I'll take tons of pictures to bring with me. I've heard the stylists at my resort are great at reproducing from pics... so I think this is the best way to go.

I think it's a good idea to get it done. Plus it's always good to test out how your hair will hold a particular style. For example, maybe you want soft waves but you find out your hair goes flat after 30 mins. That's a good thing to find out before the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
