Small wedding, I mean really small

Recommended Posts

We only had 7 guests at our wedding (although we invited about 160). We knew that we would have only 10 or less, but we were completely happy with it. It allowed everyone to just hang out together for the few days before and after and it was such a small, intimate group that it really ended up being great because we really got to spend quality time with our guests. I wouldn't change it at all!

We only had 14 guests, and we found it to be a really nice number. As for costs, we took everyone off resort for dinner. We couldn't have done that with a huge group, nor could we have given all the favours and post-wedding thank you packages if we'd had a large group. We only had 1 person stand up for us on each side. Money savings aside, we really enjoyed a smaller number. We had more time to actually spend with everyone.

Our dinner was at 7:30, and we had our own private area, so we had a steel drum band, and danced a little. I think we left around 10:15 or so. Lots of resorts have a night club, but ours was closed that night. But they had a bonfire on the beach, so we grabbed a drink and snuggled into some lounger chairs by the fire and listened to the guitarist. It was nice :)

We hired a reggae band and danced the night away on the beach! We were worried that the band might be over-the-top for a group of our size, but honestly, it was fantastic! We had a blast!

I'm glad to see that other couples are having small weddings too. We originally thought we would have around 30 people, now it looks like about

15 (and that might even be over-estimating). All of our friends are in too much debt! I do like the idea of having a more intimate ceremony though. Then we can add a few fun excursions to do as a group!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
