Help! Is it poor taste to have my reception at the all-inclusive resort's restaurant?

My FH and I are arguing about whether or not it looks "cheap" to have our wedding reception in one of the restaurants at the all-inclusive hotel. This would save us A LOT of money, since the food is already included in our guest's stay. (They don't have to be alerted to this fact, however!)

 

We plan on adding a DJ and have our cake-cutting there. Our guests are planning for a 3 or 4 night stay so they may or may not eat at that restaurant during the rest of their stay.

 

Please help!

I don't think so, a lot of girls here have done this. I'm having my reception at one of the restaurants at my resort. I have to pay to rent the space, but am not paying for the food.

I would totally do this. Except at my resort, I need to pay for the food.

We are having a semi-private reception in one of the resort restaurants. It is included with the wedding package. It is extra is we have a private reception and we are trying to keep costs to a minimum. My sister had a semi-private for her destination wedding a few years ago and it was fine. Nobody saw anything wrong with it. They still decorate it for you. My sister had a head table and everything. It was very nice and it didn't really matter to us that we didn't have the whole space for ourselves.

I really dont think that it is. The cost to rent a private area, and then pay for food and alcohol was way too expensive. We decided to do it at the restaurant (which will not be private), but we are going to be renting the disco for 2 hours before it is open to do our cake cutting, speaches, first dance etc...to have some privacy. We have to pay to rent it, but it was cheaper than doing private dinner.

I don't think so at all. This is what we are doing to. I ran it past some guests & they agreed it sounded good. Most said, "why would you pay for food when it's included?" The money I'm saving is allowing me to treat everyone to an excursion. Not that I think you have to do that if you don't pay for dinner. We were just able to swing it so I'm excited about that.

 

Even if you do a private event, many guests assume the food was covered anyway.

 

Sometimes there are size limits though. If you have too many guests you might have to pay.

There is soooo nothing wrong with doing this...We're doing the same thing. We only invited 15-20 of our friends and a sit down dinner for such a small group was a waste...so we're renting space and will have a semi-private reception. All that matters is the time you spend with your guest. It will be fine!

We are doing this as well. They will reserve an area in the restaurant for us and will even set up the way we want with table numbers, seating chart, etc. We are renting one of the bars and are having our cake and drinks and dancing separate. I say go for it.

I say go for it. That's the beauty of having a DW at an all inclusive. Then you might have some money left for little extras.
