ceiba del mar hotel and spa

Recommended Posts

Mexbride - we'll be having the reception either on the terrace near the beach or in the main restaurant (that's our back up). As I mentioned in an another post, I'm most concerned about strong wind (I hate it!) as it was pretty windy at night during our last visit. That said, there were two weddings while I was there and the guests didn't seem to mind (I think!?). Fortunately, they allow you to change locations on your wedding day depending on the weather so that's a relief.

There is not much sand, as far as I can remember, to get onto the pier so I don't think you should worry about wearing heels :) It is a long walk but it is beautiful. I think the choice will be clear once you see the hotel.

The terrace above the restaurant is smaller than the terrace next to the beach. I think your choice will probably depend on the number of guests (both locations have great views). We are using the terrace above the restaurant for our cocktail hour.

Oh please let me know once you get the revised vendor list and/or if you spot any good deals!

lalanyc - The wind is actually a main concern my fiance has! I really want the reception outside and he isn't real keen on the idea. He thinks we'll be swatting mosquitoes and fighting wind the whole time. So at the site visit we're planning to check out the indoor options as well. I would love if we could eat dinner indoors and have the party part outdoors, but I'm not sure how plausible that is. Also, we're a big wedding, expecting 70-80!

cowgirlcomo - The pictures that Del Sol has posted are great! I often look at them for ideas and to see the different locations at the hotel.

I have to say that I am sorry that the brides had to go through this but I am not suprised ! Ceiba Del Mar has undercut me as a TA twice over the last 8 months- providing brides with a contract and rates that are much lower than I could get. When I would ask to see the contract- as my suppliers can price match usually - both brides told me that no, they were told if they shared the info that the contract would no longer be honored!

I had a feeling someone was strange and cautioned the brides to be very cautious! A resort should never be concerned if a second pair of eyes looks over a contract -unless they are trying to hide something! They are suppose to be partners with the travel suppliers that we use and with the TA's. The contracts that they have in place with our suppliers states that the resort is to honor the same rate they provide directly to the consumer to the supplier/TA.

If a resort is under-cutting their partners they certainly won't hesitate to do it to a bride! It also puts the bride in a position where she no longer has an advocate - if they are on the up & up they shouldn't worry about a bride having an advocate in their corner!

Hi! My name is Theresa, and my fiance and I are definitely considering Ceiba - it is on our short list. Can you post pictures when you get back? We are looking to go for a site visit as well, just not sure when.

Have you received quotes for rooms, dinners, ceremony, etc?

Just curious if you have selected your florist/event decorator yet? If so, would you mind sharing what kinds of decorations you're getting and the pricing?

I've received some quotes but am not keen on spending $1,000 for one sad little lounge set up!

Also, where are you having your reception? Rehearsal dinner?
Hi, were have our wedding June 18 and are going down next week to finalize the details. We are meeting with Gabi with Planner1Events for decor and flowers.

We are planning the wedding in a palapas, cocktails on the pier and reception in the Sushi Terrance.. so far I can give you some better details after next week.

The only other thing we have done so far is book the Spanish Guitarist, Javier Rojas and finally Del Sol as the photography (finally!).

Marifer - the resort is about 20 minutes south from the Cancun airport and about 30 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. There are big signs along the main road so it's pretty easy to spot (though once you get into PM, it can be a little confusing but eventually you can figure it out!) :)

labloom, that's great!! Please let us know how your trip went. I was hoping to have our welcome drinks on the pier too. Please let me know if they will be able to do this for you. How many guests are you expecting?

I also met w/ Gaby on my trip but am leaning toward Euforia for now. They seemed a little more reasonably priced for my taste and also more creative?

I LOOOOVE Del Sol but unfortunately, 8 hours of coverage (which is what were shooting for) was prohibitively expensive for us. crybaby2.gif so sad

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
