Jamaica resorts

SPRINGBRIDE

Recommended Posts

We've pretty much decided on Jamaica for our honeymoon, but that's about it. I have to book it SOON!!!!!

I was looking at Couples Negril or Couples Swept Away. Has anyone been to either?

I've also heard good things about Sandals. Anyone have any suggestions?

We're doing our honeymoon at Riu Ocho Rios but I've never stayed there before. I got a few personal recommendations from friends, plus it is a newer resort so we went with it.

Sandals gets some mixed reviews but I've only heard good things about the Couples resorts so I don't think you can go wrong with that. Gotta love Jamaica no matter where you end up!smile159.gif

I went to Couples Ocho Rios for our wedding/honeymoon. We loved it there! We want to go back to the same resort again someday. I bet those other two resorts would be just as nice. Any questions about the resort just PM me. Or check out their message board on their website. It was very helpful to me and I got to know what all goes on. That is one reason why I chose Couples.

We've been to the Riu Ochos Rios when it opened up last year. I liked it because it was brand new and really clean, all marble, etc. The rooms were really nice as well. The Riu was next to the sandals which looked old.... I've never stayed at a sandals before because I've heard some of them are nice and others are not plus, I don't really like staying at an older hotel.

One warning -- DO NOT drink the beer in Jamacia (Red Stripe is okay). But there's some sort of other Jamacian brand beer (brown label i think) that my FI drank and got really sick.... i mean like 4 IV's in his arm sick. He drank the beer and like a half an hour later he felt ill so we suspect it was because the beer was unpasturized.

Oh that reminds me another good thing about the RIU is that they have a doctor on staff 24/7.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
