what's in a name?

so today i went to apply for my passport (don't worry ladies i have plenty of time) and apparently i was incorrect my *entire* life: my middle name is *NOT* marie ... i don't actually *HAVE* a middle name, according to my birth certificate!.

so at the passport acceptance facility, i'm there arguing with the lady.

"where did 'marie' come from?"

"what do you mean? it's my middle name!"

"not according to your birth certificate it's not. you don't have one."

*quizzical, dumbfounded look*

she then made me cross it out everywhere it appeared on the forms.

mind you, i'm 35 years old, and have *always* included "my middle name" on forms (legal and otherwise), as well as used "my middle initial" in my signature. it's not on my driver's license either, though i'm sure *i* always included it. i always just assumed it didn't fit due to my very long last name, haha! what the hell??!?!! did my mom forget to give me one and then just lied and made one up one dayhuh.gif? i have got to get to the bottom of this!

maybe when i change my last name i'll add "marie" while i'm at it ... or even better -- just make up a new one! haha

I feel so bad for you. I can picture you arguing now. I can't wait to hear as well.

Do you know, this happens more often then not...

My FI learned this past year both he and his mother have been spelling his name wrong. Apparently the birth certificate was filled out wrong and his Mom did not notice when issued. Luckily on most things he signs Jeff.

Even worse than this, my Dad discovered his date of birth was not actually his DOB when requesting his birth certificate for his very 1st passport. He's 60. He had always been told he was born on December 2nd, come to find out it was Dec 1st at like 2 minutes to midnight. My Mom called the hospital where he was born to double check it wasn't a birth certificate error since my Grandmother has long since passed. Back when he was young you did not need your birth certificate for things like driver's licenses I guess. He has to get so much stuff changed and if it hadn't of been for our wedding he still wouldn't know. How messed up is that? How does a parent mess up on the day their child was born, I know there is like 10 of them but still, come on now...

Keep us posted on where "Marie" came from when you find out.

Yeah, when I was married before I dropped my maiden name - but not this time! I won't really use it too much, just when I need to sign my full legal name. But I like knowing it's there! That's so cute that Chris is adding your name - I hadn't thought of that idea!

You're so close ... getting excited? Nervous!?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
