A bride whose wedding was 2 days before ours told us that while they were at the wedding and reception that all of their valuables were stolen from their room. Laptop, camera, cash out of the safe, etc. It seems that the resorts have a list of all wedding guests and can scan the rooms b/c they know people will be elsewhere during the wedding time. We did see two maids scoping out (or so it seemed) our room prior to our ceremony. We only had cash ... but did not keep it in the safe (my brother had about $80 stolen from the safe ... but they take money from the middle of your bills so it doesn't appear to be anything missing at first look).

I left my fake e-ring out in plan view, and it was still there afterwards ... so I guess it all depends.

Anyway, my advice would be to keeo valuables in a suitcase, covered with dirty clothes or something ... and locked with a luggage lock. We then put that suitcase inside of another suitcase and didn't have any issues.

This is a really good thread. I have heard about people stealing from our hotel. I don't want to tell our guests that, but at the same time I want them to be safe. I would feel horrible if something happened! We didn't have a problem with the in room safe during our last visit, but now I'm getting concerned.

Wait, white gold can't go in the poolhuh.gif? I didn't know this? Are you ladies bringing your engagement and wedding rings with you? I want to for pictures, and was just planning on wearing it at all times instead of leaving it in the safehuh.gif Yikes!

I have travelled quite a bit and when not using the in room safe then I simply keep everything in my suitcase ( obviously locked ) , also I always have an extra lock , a combo one that I can use for one of my other luggaages or carry on peices while in the room .

MY FI has a luggage set that came with a lock and he has ever had any problems either ....I hope I am not jinxing myself , we leave for Dominican for 10 days tonight !!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
