Couples Swept Away - fabulous resort - perfect for weddings

Recommended Posts

We were married at Couples Swept Away on Jan. 9, 2008 and were there for 2 weeks.

I wrote a wedding review in the wedding review section, so I won't repeat that here. I also see a recent very detailed review of the resort from TA Jennifer with some great pictures.

So I'll try not to be repetitive, but as a bride who was recently married there, I have to say this resort is incredible. We had 14 guests with us and they all wished they were there for another week too. So much to do and so little time in 1 week.

The rooms were comfortable and decorated in neutral tones. (no dated flowery prints). The beds were large and comfy. The water was always hot. We had a huge verandah.

The grounds are lush and gorgeous, and being on 7 mile beach it's a prime, perfect beach location. The sunsets are stunning. They have beach flag service and came around bringing us drinks and water, plus cool towels and fruit kabobs.

Pretty much every morning we put our card out for breakfast room service (included) and woke up to fresh coffee, fruit and croissants delivered to our door. But the buffet was great for a full breakfast. The food was great, and there were lots of options for dining. Always somewhere to eat. They have a beach party that's lots of fun.

There are 2 pools, one with a swim up bar, plus a big lap pool for serious swimmers. The watersports included are many. The snorkel boat went out at least twice a day, but being divers we took advantage of that and went out lots. We never had trouble signing up for anything. We'd decide to take a hobie cat. No problem. DH wanted to water-ski. no problem.

Glass bottom boat trips and catamaran trips are included. We did the cat cruise on our wedding and considering going again, but a bus trip to Pirates Cave was also included.

The resort also has a fullscale sports complex with racquet sports of all types. Plus there's a salon and spa.

We've been to other AI resorts before, but I have never come across one that includes SO much. Plus no tipping, and despite that the staff is amazing. They go out of their way and are super friendly. My SIL is celiac and can't have wheat, so they offered to make her special meals even.

If you are looking for a romantic resort for your wedding, or even a honeymoon, where you'll be totally pampered, this is IT. I'd go back to a Couples over Sandals or a Grand Lido anyday.

As for weddings, they take care of everything. Of course, it's not a good choice if you have lots of guests with kids, but there is a Beaches right next door. It may also not be the best choice for very large groups, especially with many singles, as it isn't huge, and has more of a peaceful, low key atmosphere. Lots of Couples come here with just the 2 of them, or with a few other couples or a small group, for more intimate weddings.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
