I agree with Maura. I also don't think you should have to ask her permission on what you have at your reception. Just tell her that yes, everything is already bought, that you are excited to add this to your reception and that your FI loves the idea. (Hopefully, he'll back you up.)

Sarah, don't put yourself down when you talk to her - you aren't psycho or crazy for wanting to make your reception your perfect vison. Just be positive and say this is what we are doing. Good luck!

I find anytime my mom thinks one of my ideas sounds bad I just have to show her a picture. She was so against trashing the dress until she saw pictures. When I described my invites I could tell she had a weird image in her head. Yesterday she asked me for another because she wore out the first one showing everyone.

Your FMIL does seam really sweet. You can tell she tried really hard to nicely tell you she doesnt like the idea.

I agree, I'd rather have a margarita & candy than some coffee.

EDIT: typed this before I saw you sent pictures. This thread is active!

Then just tell her you've already done the work & are really excited about it. If she knows it somethign you really want she probably won't fight you on it. Then at the AHR people will probably be raving about the candy buffett & she'll come around.

LISTEN TO MELANIE, SHE'S A MOM!

tell your FMIL its basically all done... you paid for it, if she wants to do the coffee bar in addition (which IMHO would be a bit much to do both), then fine. tell her its something you and your FI have discussed and wanted to do. then make sure your FI will back you up!

Even if she doesn't like the idea, I don't get it. It's just a candy bar- it's not like it's the primary focus of the AHR. Craziness. Plus for what it's worth- I think it's way better than a coffee bar. I think coffee is so boring (although I drink it nearly every day-haha)

I think the more people you share ideas with the more opinions you will get. Some of those might not see your vision or have another wacko vision altogether. With that in mind, do whatever the hell you want. Share your ideas, but take the feedback with a grain of salt.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
