Guests inviting guests?

I can only think that maybe it happened to make it cheaper if they are sharing a room. However, I wouldn't think that the person would actually attend the wedding! That would be preposterous!

yeah my mum has actually done that already! I don't mind really, because I don't have a big family....infact really only grew up with mum brother and gran (who is no longer with us), so I don't mind her asking people to come as it will make her feel alot more comfortable next to h2b's massive family!

 

But it did take me a back at first when she said people were coming who I don't keep in touch with! Or haven't seen for over 10 years!!lol

i feel your pain about the FMIL! mine thinks that since we are having the wedding at an all-inclusive, she can tell anyone and everyone to come along! she has told friends, neighbors, etc. about our wedding and keeps telling us how all these people want to come to our wedding in cancun too!

if we pay *anything* per head, none of these people are coming. their family is huge enough as it is, which is why we're doing a dw in the first place!

I totally agree w/you. On our invites response card I put Guest(s) and put the name of the guest. If it was Brett that is the only name on there. for my friend Carol I put Carol and Guest...well this was manly because we didn't want Brett to bring his DRAMA GF to our small (7-10 people) intimate wedding. She's one of those "it's all about me, and if not I'll cause a seen to make it about me" person.

It IS so annoying!!! It actually ended up happening AGAIN the day that I posted that! It's crazy. I just would never do that at someone else's wedding!

I myself decided to have a destination wedding for my guests to be able to take a mini vacation with their family and friends as well as attending my wedding. I expected that my guests might also be taking other guests that I may not know. So, I kind of estimated a budget for them as well.

 

You might place a couple options on the invite like how many attends ceremony and how many attends reception. Or even can be more blunt that reception is invitation only event.

 

I know in my invitation for the Sunday Bunch schedule the next morning, I made sure that the invite states that everyone will be paying for their own.

I think you do pay per head for the reception thats why i'm not playing lol if they want a hol fine but don't think they are coming to the wedding lol can't think of anything worse than a bunch of people I don't know giving the fake congratulations lol

I'm bumping this thread up to get some feedback.....we are freaking out!  Last night we get a voice mail from my FI brother/BM.  Wants to bring his mother-in-law to Mexico.  Wait change that......"mother in law WANTS to come to Mexico to babysit there children at nighttime, don' worry she'll pay her own way"  WTF!  Number #1 his MIL doesn't even talk to us whenever we are around as a matter of fact she doesn't even talk to anyone.....she's weird and it's very awkward being around her! #2 we are having around 40 people all of which are either immediate family or friends that are like family.....we feel it's a very intimate group and want to keep it that way.  Anybody have any advice or experience?  Alot of the upset is personal w/ this woman......we ran the scenario with other friends or family and would be ok with a couple others bringing there "friendly, social BABYSITTERs"  If she comes we would never say she couldn't come to the wedding reception, we wouldn't feel right about it.  UGH!  One last thing.....we plan on doing a signature frame at the reception, having the photog take a group picture and putting that in the frame------We don't want her in the picture but what do you say? UGH!!!!!!!

I had this come up for the first time earlier this week.  I kindly said that I can not control where/when people choose to take your vacation, however if you did not receive an invitation, you will not be attending the actually wedding and dinner that follows.

We didn't even do invites!  That is how intimate our list is.....we personally spoke with every person who is coming!  If she comes I just don't think that we could not have her at the reception although is not invited!
