Reception Help - Open Bar Question?

Recommended Posts

I have seen a lot of people discussing the amount they paid for an open bar? For Riu resorts, do you still have to pay an open bar fee if all of the guests are staying at the resort? That seems silly to me seeing that the resort is all-inclusive as is.. Anyone help please?

I cannot speak for the Riu, but most places charge about $10 per person for open bar because they have to transport all of the stuff to your location instead of using the big public bars.

Check too, because at my resort they do beer and wine for free but consider the open bar to have beer, wine, and spirits.

That saves a ton of money... although dancing on the beach sounds so fun....

Twelve piece how was the weather after 8pm on the beach? Oh, and how did you end up wearing your hair and did it hold up? (I was gonna try to hold off on the questions after your review, but I just couldnt stop myself).

It gets a little chilly on the beach at night b/c of the wind. The first 7 days we were there the weather was perfect, so even though the wind was strong at night I still just wore a tank top or sun dress. The next 3 days were a different story- the temp dropped and it rained, actually stormed one night and even during the day I was wearing my jacket.

Oh the hair.... well my hair trial was a disaster but the day of worked out fine. I actually never saw the back of my hair once it was finished b/c I was in such a hurry but she put SOOOOO much spritz and so many hairpins in it that the next day it had not moved at all. I even climbed Dunns river and it was still in place.

WOW, it held up thru climing the falls....That works smile29.gif

Did your hair frizz as soon as you stepped of the plain? I'm not sure how my hair is going to act and I think my texture is kinda close to yours.

Yep! I had to put twice as much mousse in my hair to keep looking semi-normal. I ended up wearing a ponytail most of the time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
