veil or no veil-that is the question

I am having a veil dilemma. I never planned on wearing a veil. When I first went dress shopping I didn't even think to try one on. But the consulatant came over after I had found my dress and stuck a veil on my head. My friends all agreed I had to wear a veil. My best friend got married last year and her mother made her veil for the wedding. It is a really beautiful veil. She said that if I decided I wanted to wear a veil I was welcome to borrow it. Well since then I have tried it on with my dress and I admit it looks great. But I still go back and forth in my mind whether or not I want to wear a veil. I would be happy with a pretty flower in my hair. But for some reason everytime I mention not wearing a veil I seem to offend someone! At this point I don't know what to do. Do I wear the veil to avoid hurting someone's feelings and take it off after the ceremony? Or do I just go the hair flower route?

ACH2009, Since your friend has offered her veil and you like it, I'd say bring it with you and it could be your 'something borrowed'.

I wasn't initially planning on a veil either but my FH really wants me to wear one, cute huh?. Also, after looking at wedding pics I've found I love the dramatic look of a long veil blowing in the wind. So... I picked one up on ebay for $30 :)

What a great idea! I have been debating how to wear both the veil and the flower in my hair, and you really made it work beautifully!

I mean, when else in your life do you get to wear:

A). A diamond tiara

B). A veil

A girl's gotta take advantage of these princess opportunities!!

I had a bridal consultant show me a different way of doing my veil so I could have both my hair flower and my veil on during the ceremony. She put the veil under my updo (rather my notted ponytail) so that it still flowed beautifully but you could still see all my hair and the hair flower. I was originally going to put the hair flower in my hair after the ceremony but I really wanted to have both. And this way still looks really pretty and I get to have both!

I have been to Cancun so many times and it is always sooo windy. So I deceided NO veil. Well I just ordered my dress and seeing it with the veil on, guess what I got the veil. I am not going to wear it for the ceremony, but I will wear it for photos.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
