Hello,

I just got back from my wedding and honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta yesterday. It went so well, beyond my wildest imagination!! I'm so happy we decided on a destination wedding...it couldn't have been more perfect for us. I also want to thank all of you -- I haven't been very active in the postings since I wandered upon this site late in my planning and was so very busy getting ready -- but I spent many hours reading various postings left by you all which contributed to many ideas and vendors that I ended up using (Enlace being one of them -- our band -- mostly thanks to AmyH's postings). So thanks to all of you -- I will defintiely post a full review of my wedding with pics in case it is help to any of you, and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. In the meantime, I wanted to provide a quick review of the band Enlace since I know some of you will be using them and there isn't much on the web in terms of reviews.

We arrived in Puerto Vallarta Dreams Resort on Saturday the 5th. We had scheduled a meeting with Carlos, the booking person for the band (he is also one of the band members) for Sunday in which we met him at a restaurant in a nearby mall. He brought along the lead singer of the band since she is fluent in English and he doesn't speak English well at all. After the meeting we were so excited we went with them. They really put us at ease in that they were so nice and easy to work with. We weren't planning on using them for our dinner music (since we had never heard them before, we weren't sure if they'd be too loud, etc. so we planned on using our IPOD for dinner and then have the band for 2 hours of dancing following dinner). They were willing to do a 2 hour minimum for us. They even said that they would be set-up and ready to go a few hours prior to our start time of 9PM so if our dinner ended early and we wanted to start dancing music early, they'd be ready for us (they'd charge us for it in 1/2 hour increments). But if not, then they'd start at 9pm and we'd only be charged for 2 hours (even though their normal minimum is 3 hours). Our hotel Dreams was going to charge us for a sound system to play our IPOD during dinner but Enlace said since they would be all set up we could use their system for no charge! We were very happy.

On the wedding day, they showed up early as promised and were ready to go when dinner started. We offered them dinner, but they only wanted non-alcoholic beverages during their performance and pre-performance wait time. They waited during dinner, playing our IPOD. We had the 5 piece band and the leader singer was female, dressed in a very professional attire. Once the band started playing (we selected the song lists ahead of time) they were amazing!! Everyone was commenting to us how much they enjoyed the band and everyone was on their feet dancing. We were so thrilled with their performance we only wished that we had used them longer -- for all of dinner). We did not rent a stage nor a dance floor - our reception was set-up in a poolside area of the resort that was concrete - the band was setup in a corner and we just danced on the concrete floor - it was perfect. The band had their own lightling (pretty simple as we requested...nothing elaborate) but it looked and sounded great.

I highly recommend Enlace - they even preformed a couple guest requests. I would definitely use them again if we ever have another event in PV.

Oh - and we went to the Four Seasons Punta Mita for our honeymoon. One night while we were there, we heard a band playing and thought - wow - they sound great. We checked out what was goning on and noticed it was a private wedding. The band sounded unbelievable. So we looked a little closer and it was Enlace! The same 5 piece band that we used! They did a more elaborate set-up for this wedding...had a stage, dance floor, and some bigger lighting and background options...but they sounded just as fabulous. And we caught them as the guests were eating dinner - the band was playing light soft music during hte dinner - not too loud at all. Perfect. Kevin and I commented that had we seen them prior to our own wedding, we definitely would have anted up the addition $ to have them play during dinner. By the way - we were charged $650/hour to use Enlace. Very affordable in my opinion. We originally inquired about them through Dreams (using the wedding coordinator Gabby), and she quoted us $950/hour!! Definitely a markup if you go through your wedding coordinator (at least at Dreams). When we inquired on our own, we got the $650 price.

They also provided us with a CD of their band music as a parting gift to remember them by. Please let me know if you have any questions about this band. We are so pleased we used them.

Amy thank you so much for your review! Music is so important to us, and although they came highly recommended by the previous WC at the Mayan, its still a little nerve-recking to hire a band w/ out ever hearing them in person.

We are getting the 5-pc band too! Yay! I'm glad your wedding went well, I would love to see pictures of their set up if you have any!

Thanks and congrats!!

I defintely will post pics - as soon as I get them! We're soliciting those taken from our family and friends so we can post those now - since our professional pics won't be ready for another 3 weeks! sad.gif

But as soon as I get some I'll forward them along with my full review. You'll defintiely be glad you booked Enlace!

Just a little, we haven't had any communication with Carlos in months! I asked Pris to f/u with him once we hired her, but she hasn't mentioned anything.

From my experience, these guys are very professional. They seem to do a lot of weddings (I can't believe we even saw them at the Four Seasons!!). They are so good and so professional. You will be glad you hired them. I'm still waiting on my pics, but I can't wait to post them!! :)

I was planning on getting a DJ, just to simplify the whole search, but after seeing all these rave reviews, I think I'll be giving Enlace a call!

I photograph weddings for a living and I can tell you first hand what a positive difference a band will make to your party. I think it's worth the splurge. I'm just curious to see where they would set up at my venue, Casa China Blanca. Anyone have that experience?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
