Sand cermony at ROR

Recommended Posts

I've seen several couples have done the sand ceremony at ROR. I was wondering a few things.

-Was there an extra charge to set-up and perform the sand ceremony?

-Did you bring the vows with you and if so, did you have to put in instructions like "bride pours sand now" etc? or did the officiant kind of direct the pouring?

-Did anyone use beach sand? Did you have any problems getting it through customs?

Thanks in advance!

-Was there an extra charge to set-up and perform the sand ceremony? no extra charge-Chandlyn takes care of the set-up

We brought our own vows (attached), but it just seemed obvious when to pour. I just talked through it with my husband so he knew when to start pouring as well.-Did anyone use beach sand? Did you have any problems getting it through customs? We used beach sand as we liked the look of it better than colors. We also loved the idea of having sand from the same beach that we were married on. No problems through customs at all, although, they didn't ask and we didn't specificy.
Thanks in advance!

We also did the sand ceremony. We gave the words to Chandlyn and the sand and vases. She set it up. The judge stumbled a bit by repeating a section but it was fine. We were asked at customs what it was. We just said it was from our wedding and it was fine.

I suppose I could answer my own questions now if anyone is still interested.

-No extra charge for the sand ceremony

-We brought vows with us. The minister read our vows and then added in his own "I now invite you to pour the sand..." and finished it off with the bit about being unable to separate the sand grains.

-We used pink sand and beach sand. Make sure that you insist that the beach sand used is DRY!!! The co-ordinator (or her assistant) filled it up with damp sand and we had pouring problems. No problems with customs.

Also, I wanted to add how we got the sand home because I stressed over this for so long! We bought a cheap wax melter, you know the kind with the tealight underneath and the wax wafers on top. Well, we let the sand settle for a few days and then poured the melted wax on top. The sand did settle a little bit more after the wax but for the most part the sand is still in its original pouring pattern when we got it home.

Hope that helps someone else!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
