Hi gals!!

We're back and not only did we have an amazing time in cancun, but our wedding day was just awesome!! We had a small wedding of 17 people and it was so perfect, everyone got along and there was no drama!! We did have a little bit of rain and a TON of wind so our wedding reception was moved indoors. We did get to have the ceremony in the gazebo since it was covered, but our reception could not be on the terrace as planned since there was no covering. But the space that we got was so much better than the terrace because it was a super nice place, one side of the room was glass so we got an awesome view of the beach, we had our own private terrace so when the rain stopped our guests could go out and enjoy the weather, we actually had our fire dancers and our 1st dance out there...and best of all the room had AC!!! lol not that it really helped as we were all drenched in sweat from dancing all night long! But then again it would have been worse outside, so then no one would have wanted to dance lol anywho Ive gabbed enough, i just wanted to share a picture of our little guy in my bouquet. I also sent the starfish to Danielle (futuremrsjrj) yesterday, so she should be receiving it soon.

This was such a great experience & I am so thankful I was able to be a part of it! Thanks girls!

Hey ladies,

Something just dawned on me, we need to know where people live in order to see if it will TRULY be feasible for shipping to occur in time for the next bride.  It can be a little difficult to estimate shipping times between the US and other countries.  I just noticed that both the person I am receiving from, and the person I am shipping to are outside of the US, which may present an issue.

Maybe when we sign up, we post our home location as well, that way if we see that the person is in another country, maybe we do not sign up for that starfish too close to their date. I know most brides will not be shipping from their wedding location, and will wait until they get home and settled. It is my experience that shipping to/from Europe from the US can take up to two weeks! I have never shipped to/from Canada, so I have no clue what to expect.

Karla: can we post home locations? I am in Texas, if that helps

Thoughts? please chime in :-)

Hi Diva

Shipping from the US to Canada is usually about 4-7 days via regular post (usps) so I don't think it should be a problem as long as it is sent before the second week you are back as I beleive we have a month between us.  But good point and great suggestion! Coming from Europe or sending to Europe is a whole different story. We are still in North America and they are on another continent!

I am just outside of Toronto, Ontario Canada. If there is for whatever reason a crunch for time, there may be a possibility to ship it to my friend in Clearwater, FLA who is coming to the wedding but we can discuss this stuff closer to the date if necessary.

Thanks for the reply Lisa! I think we will be ok since we have a month between us, but I am concerned I will not receive it! Ania is in London and her wedding date is February 20, with me leaving for the DR on March 10, that is pushing it and I do not think I will receive it in time.  I am unsure what her travel dates are...

Karla: Not sure who signed up first between Ania and I, but I do not think it will work with only 18 days between her wedding date and when I have to leave, considering it is coming from London.  Please let me know who signed up first, that way the other person can maybe sign up for another starfish.

Not trying to be mean, but realistically that is not enough time in between weddings to make it!

I would allow more time than that, or use UPS/FedEx.  The USPS took almost 3 months the last time I sent something to Canada.

Have you heard from Ania?  Is she still an active member?  In honestly don't know who signed up first, I would have to go back through all the pages in the thread to figure out when I added each of you.  I really don't have the time to do that right now.  If you have the time, you go go back to see when each of you was added.

I think it would be a good idea to post locations.

I'm not to sure about Brandi (bnbrmy) - she hasn't posted since March.  krishna or Ania, have you been in contact with her?  I may remove her from the list if we don't hear anything in the next couple of weeks.

For those wondering what the blue starfish looks like, here is a pic from my bouquet: Click the image to open in full size.

Looks like Ania was not on the list when I was added on, the person right before me was in January, which means my request was probably the first one.  Again, not to step on toes, but there is NO way that she can guarantee I will get it from the UK in 18 days.  I think some adjustments need to be made to the list so we can keep this thing going.

Sorry guys, I am an attorney, what do you expect!LOL  ;-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
