i cannot wait to get off the pill after the wedding because i think it's the biggest blessing/curse. i'm definately not ready for a kid. but i think the pill is really awful for you. if you think about it... you're totally screwing with your body month after month by pumping in artificial hormones. my parents see an ayurvedic doctor and she swears up and down that the pill is the worst thing we could do to ourselves and that it literally changes our bodies. there's pretty interesting research out there about it.

so if you're already considering moving off the pill.. just some food for thought :)

Anyway, I was on Alesse for awhile and I had no trouble. It's one of the only pills I can use.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I used to volunteer at a sexual health clinic so have some knowledge about a whole bunch of different methods.

Anyways, regarding Alesse, you have to be careful about taking it at the SAME time everyday. Even more careful than other pills. Because it's such a low dose of hormones, you really need to get the next dose in on time. Otherwise, it just really depends on your body how you do on it (like others have said).

Re. the IUD, I have also used this method for almost 3 years and LOVE it. I have the copper IUD, so no hormones, which I like and was also the reason I went on it. I was having migraine headaches and this can be dangerous if you're on the pill (the pill can cause your blood vessels to constrict a little and they think that this is one of the causes of a migraine too. It's the same reason they don't recommend you go on the pill if you're a smoker -blood vessel constriction).

I maybe have a little bit more cramping than I did before, but just control that on the bad days with some prescribed pain killers. I have not been pregnant and haven't had a problem with expulsion. The insertion was a bit painful, but mostly like a bad cramp. I was a little crampy for the rest of the day and after that was good. It's a great method in my opinon -highly effective (98.75%), can be left in for 5 years (so super cheap) and I hardly ever have to think about it. You ovulate normally, so when I want to get pregnant, the doctor just has to pull it out and we're good to go.

Sorry for the long post. This is an area of interest of mine and I like to make sure women have good information to make their decisions. Talk to your doctor of course too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
