Nov 08 brides

Recommended Posts

Ok, girls I'm waking up from the dead.things have been crazy at work with our year end. I went for my 2nd hair trial last weekend and I loved the hairdo. I wish I could post here but I can't access photobucket from work..will do later. Probably tomorrow because we are going to economic club meeting tonight to see Mike Huckabee speak and won't get home until late.

I have my shower this weekend and it should be fun they are doing a mexican theme. Did I tell you guys they threw me a surprise shower last week at work?? It was really cool they decorated the office all mexican fiesta and especially my cubicle and people were wearing sombreros..ha It was fun, they all pitched in and made a mexican style lunch. Then after work we all went out for margaritas at our favorite mexican restaurant (which I thought that was all we were doing...they tricked me!) And I got a card from work with $100 towards our freezer they knew we wanted to buy...so was really nice!!

BTW Celina, so sorry to hear about your dress issues...I bet that is very stressful. I'm sure your seamstress will be able to fix everything up for you. I just took my dress in for alterations on friday and they told me Nov 17th would be done. Well, we leave on the 20th to stay the night by the airport before our flight...so YIKES...nothing like cutting it close :)

Oh Amy - that is so awesome about your shower! You will love your freezer too! We couldnt' live without ours. That is so cool about your co-workers.

Thanks for the dress support! Here is the pic and here is my dilema...........

I spoke to the seamstress last night and I am going to her house tonight to have her fix the dress.

Excuse my hair - I just took it down from a ponytail. Anyhow, I don't want to lose the scalloped edge on the lace. I tried it on again last night with the right bra and realized the lace has the same scalloped pattern right below the current pattern. I want her to take in the satin underneath to expose more and she will have to cut the lace down a scallop (I hope that makes sense).

Because it is so covered up, it doesn't look flattering at all. She is going to have to do something with the width of the strap area. It is just too much coverage. BTW - my dress is actually ivory.

SO - no need for a new dress, and I feel much better. I think I totally had a Bridezilla moment! Whewwww.....crisis averted!

Celina, I agree it looks like there is too much fabric which is I think is giving you what you called the matronly appearance. You are a hot mama, show that off girl!! Could it be turned into a halter?

Oh Steph - you are too sweet - always my cheerleader! cheer2.gif

Yeah - some of that fabric has to go! I need va-va-voom coming down that aisle! Not Muffy the Matron Bride! Ha ha!

I wanted to wear a regular bra for support, but now that you mention it...hmmm. The zipper is in the back and she'd have to do something with the zipper and she could add some satin ties or whatever to fix the neck. I could definitely ask her. It would add more va-va if it was a halter.

She showed me a halter dress she did the last time I was there and it turned out really cute, so I know she can do it.

We will definitely discuss that option! Thanks for pointing it out!

I think if the seamstress can take away some of the fabric to show more of the lace ede so you can see through the dress a bit more around your chest that would be more of what you are looking for, and she could probably take in the side of the straps that don't have the scalloped edge. I wonder if changing to a halter would make the lace edge lay funny, unless she cut off some at the top where the straps would tie around your neck? I am no seamstress, but seeing what my alterations lady has done with my dress and making my sister's flower girl dress I would think the changes on your dress should be pretty easy. It looks like a very pretty dress though!

So glad she can fix your dress Celina. I understand what you meant when you said you felt it was "choking you" definately too much fabric covering ya up. I cant wait to see how she fixes it.

Good Morning Brides to Be!

Hope all is well with you!

I went last night and took my dress. She is taking in 1 inch on each side of the bodice of the dress and is cutting off one line of the scalloped lace on each side as well. I had the dress on and she pinned it up pretty good and when I left it looked a lot like the original dress.

We discussed a halter neck, but she would have to reconfigure the entire back of the dress and the zipper, so I decided against it.

I finally got my rhinestone E's in so I can finish my blumeboxes. I can't wait to show you guys! We have to post our planning threads next week!

I have my makeup trial Saturday afternoon. I am excited for that! I am also going to finally get my hair cut tonight! I am finishing up all my loose ends here at work. I work 4 days next week and will be on vacation till November 18th! We also have our legal day next Friday. Me and my BM's are going to go out for brunch next Sunday and I am giving them their "Swag Bags". I also picked them up some passport covers so I'll toss those in as well.

The guys at work are teasing me. They are too cute. They are calling me a "Short-Timer" and asking if I had cold feet.

    • Good afternoon, I wanted to inquire if anyone has or knows someone who got married at this resort. How was it? How are the coordinators? Packages that were chosen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.
    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
