I was planning to send them out the first week of July, but now I'm thinking I need to get on things and send them out earlier! Yikes!
I just mailed mine out on Saturday and our RSVP date is August 15. I figured that time frame gave guests who haven't booked yet a reminder and some time to book if they want to come, and also gives me enough time to still order OOT bags and finalize stuff on my end once I know the exact guest count.

These invitations also led to me to my first "bridezilla" moment. I really wanted the invitations to look nice, but our budget didn't allow ordering expensive invitations so I went the DIY route. I was pretty happy with how they turned out, but after putting them together we ran out of ribbon. Since we were already behind getting them together we just used what we had and I still had some raffia ribbon left from the bottles so there are a bunch that will be getting different ribbon. I wasn't too concerned about it because I actually ended up liking the way the raffia ribbon looked better. FI had taken one of the samples to the post office about a week ago to find out the postage and the lady measured it twice and said .59. FI also said there was a guy in line after him with the same size envelope and she told him .59 too. He called me while he was still at the post office and I thought it sounded too low so I told him to have her check it again and she said the same price. So we ordered stamps with our logo from stamps.com. We got 4 sheets with the .59 rate and 4 sheets with the .42 for the RSVP cards. They came in on Friday so we were able to stamp everything, put the ribbon on and stuff them so I could take them to the post office on Saturday. I was really happy with how the stamps turned out. The colors of our logo matched almost perfectly to the color of the envelopes and it looked really nice together. Now on to my bridezilla moment. I get to the post office on Saturday to drop them off and the guy at the counter takes one out and weighs it, and then takes out this cardboard thing with a slit in it and put the invitation inside and then tells me I don't have enough postage. I preceded to tell him that is impossible because my FI was just there a week ago with the same invitation and the lady checked it twice and told him .59. He said because of the size of the envelope that there was an extra charge. The weight was .59, but because of the size it was more. The lady my FI dealt with obviously didn't measure it, and I asked to speak with someone else. I felt it was there mistake. I didn't just order .59 stamps online for the hell of it. They were not helping at all so I ended having to buy .41 stamps to add on there. Then I called my FI and started crying because I was all upset. Now, I don't know why something as stupid as stamps got me so worked up, but here I was in the parking lot of the post office crying because I had to put a purple love stamp next to our personalized ones. I felt so dumb!smile105.gif

So my advice to you is if you are going to order personalized stamps make sure the postage is correct unless you don't care about purple stamps.

Oh no Michelle! I have to be honest, that was a huge fear. I got personalized stamps too and went to the post office prior to ordering in order to get the correct weight and stamp amount. When I finished my invites and put the stamp on them, I drove them down to the post office.

I had this crazy fear that they were going to tell me sorry you have the wrong amount. Thankfully, it didn't happen and I had the right postage. BUT it did happen to me with my STD's...

I sent out all my invites after getting them weighed and 1 came back. Not 2 or 3 or all of them, but ONE! I took it to the post office and they weighed it and for some odd reason, that one was heavier than the rest of them!?!?!?!? Not too sure on the reasoning, but in the end I still had to put more stamps on and send it off. How retarded is that. I can sort of feel your pain with our similar yet different situations. Darn post offices!!!!

HI Ladies...I'm BACK!! Well...sort of......

Thank you all for your concerns with my family drama! Now that it is behind me, I am taking baby steps in getting back in wedding mode. I feel SO behind! I haven't even ordered our invites. I know which ones I want, I just need to get decided on an AHR and then we should be good to go from there.

This drama has totally depleted any extra energy I have. I have been trying to read posts and get back into the "mood". It's coming back. I just don't want to feel pressured about anything right now. I am slowly going to be working up the momentum to get back to planning a wedding. I must say that it was nice on Saturday to have a lot of our guests telling eachother.."See you in Mexico!"

YAY!! My MOH found a house and are moving back to Denver and I couldn't be happier. She will definitely get me back in wedding mode!

WElcome back and we will try to help you get back into wedding mode. I have had similar situations to what you went through thanks to a psycho woman that was dating my FBIL and is now with my FFIL. (LOOOONNNNGGG story). It is aggrevating, and emotionally exhausting. What is the next thing on your list that you want to get down that we can help with or at least motivae you to do? Let us know!!!

i just mailed my invites last monday. i'm not doing rsvps so i figured i just would send them out now, otherwise i might of waited till end of June beg July. Since all my guests were already booked and i wasn't expecting anyone else to book, i didn't want to do rsvps. i would just be so aggravated by the people who didn't mail them back. Funny thing is that two people rsvp'd on my website which i didn't even know you could do! Oh and one other person has booked, i hope i have enough oot bag stuff.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
