Is a microphone system for the ceremony/vows necessary?

Recommended Posts

What is you opinion on this?

Will our guests be able to hear us while we say our vows during the ceremony without a microphone attached to fiance?

We have about 25-30 guests. Our wedding is not directly on the beach but by a gazebo fairly close to the water.

If you did have a microphone for you ceremony did you like it or did you think it was a waste of money, or kind of cheesy etc?

Thanks for the help.

We got married in a gazebo overlooking the ocean. We had the justice of the peace marry us and then our catholic priest blessed our marriage. The JOP had a microphone which he used but our priest did not. Everyone heard the whole thing though - The priest was facing everybody and there were about 20 people at the wedding in the first 3 pews. I suppose it also depends on how loud they are talking. The microphone wasn't hard to use though and I'm sure they would supply one - they gave us one to use at the reception and it was easy - cordless - and just push the on button! Good Luck!

It was really windy and the waves were crashing in the background of our ceremony... so I would say that YES, it was necessary. However that's how they usually did it at my resort so it looked professional and they did a great job.

I would say absolutely. We were married on the beach so I had a really hard time hearing.

However, I attended a friends wedding in a garden and they didn't have a mic. I couldn't hear a THING! One rude asshole stood up and said "Speak up!" during their vows. I would have been pissed. Anyways, I vote YES for the mic.

I think i'd have died laughing promptly followed by a crack to the jaw lol 3 squaddies at my wedding so hopefully no-one will dare lol

I'm not having one, there will be a max of 20 and as long as we hear them I'm not bothered to be honest lol Think its personal choice like if you write your vows etc

Thanks for all the advice.
Jackie, We were married at Dreams Cabo and used the microphone. I'm not sure if it was totally necessary but even though we had a lapel mic on Matt, I believe the main microphone is what was mainly captured on our video so everyone was heard. I would rather be safe than sorry. The minister held a cordless and it worked out great. His sister did a reading and the sand ceremony with the mic and all our guests were able to hear.

Update. Mariana e-mailed me back and said that no she wouldnt recomend it for us. She said that she usually recomends them for weddings with 40 or more guests.

If we did want the mic system it would be $200.00.

Honestly we are doing any readings ect and are keeping the ceremony as short as you can possibly get it so I think we will go without the mic system.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
