Online Wedding??

Recommended Posts

I'm getting marry in Cabo this November and I know a lot of folks who just can't make it mainly because of financial reasons. I was wondering if anyone is planning on setting up a live broadcast for folks back home to watch the ceremony online?

I've done a google search and I found a link IdoStream live wedding webcast, broadcast and video streaming. Share your wedding live online for friends and family who cannot make it to the event. which I thought is pretty cool to set up, but I'm afraid that there may not be any internet signals on the beach. The resort only have a few hotspots to use the wireless, but other than that - I'm not too sure. Any thoughts?

Our resort in Jamaica offers that as an option. You might want to check with your resort to see if it is offered and what the cost would be.

We considered it but then thought, who will be home at 4:30 on a Saturday to watch online live? It does stay active for 60 or 90 days, but we are having a reception at home and plan to show our wedding video. In the end we decided to spend the $400 elsewhere.

Oh my goodness. Okay, just a crazy thought right now....

Imagine if you were planning on eloping and you tell your family and friends back home to go on the internet at that time because you will send them a virtual 'hello'- so they go online, look, and you are getting married instead!!!!

LoL- that would be crazy.

I think live wedding is a great idea. The key value here is "live".

If my best friend is getting married and I can't go, I would love to be able to watch it live on the internet.

There's something magical about hearing someone saying "I Do" and see/watch them tie the knot. Isn't that why we invite friends and families to our wedding?

Watching a video after it has happened is just not the same. It's already happened, it's in the past.

I think live webcasting is perfect for destination weddings. I know a lot of my friends and family won't be there. I will definitely look into this further.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry - I ran across this posting a little late...

We have tossed around the idea of Live-Broadcast with Dreams Los Cabos. I have also been in contact with IDO STREAM... The problem is that Dreams has a weak wireless connection that does not always work... This obstacle makes it impossible to upstream a live wedding. A HARD-WIRE connection is the best to have - which, obviously, on the beach is not possible...

Maybe someday soon we will be equipped to LIVE-STREAM weddings here in Cabo and when that day comes we plan on offering that service.

Dear LilyWu,

It is nice to hear from you again, regarding your question... I know very well the beach where your wedding will be held at and I happen to know a bit or two about live streaming... I'll tell you thought, in order to have the wedding broadcasted live from that particular spot on the beach will cost you quite some money... Here's why:

* First of all I can be done, just need the right tools.
* You need to rent (buy), a big signal booster to get a steady signal from the location of your wedding.
* The closest internet hub is at the restaurant by the pool (about 250 yards away from the ceremony area)
* You will need a dedicated stream so you can upload with no problem.
* Usually, all hotels have internet hotspots but their signal is kind of weak.
* I am thinking, cabling from the hub to the site, a booster for the internet conexion and a dedicated server to stream live.

Hhmmmm I should get this idea rolling right?
Maybe next time, I can offer this service also right? :)

Have a great day and too bad I wasn't available to do your ceremony!

so far everyone is saying they are coming to the wedding, but no doubt next year when it comes to booking some people will be in a different financial situation, so it depends how many people can't go. But if there are quite a few, or someone really special, we would defo get the live cam feed set up if Moon Palace were able to do it. It would make the guests at home feel like they were a part of it in a weird way!

So how does it work - is someone filming it or it is just a webcam set up somewhere? It would be great if it was someone filming so they could zoom in on guests and they could talk to the camera!!

Getting a bit carried away now!!....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
