JAMAICAN CAKE BAKER!

As promised I have tracked down a local cake baker (after a recent trip to Negril) who makes beautiful wedding cakes in Jamaica. He can make traditional jamaican rum and fruit cakes as well as other "traditional" western style wedding cakes.

With photos he can even recreate designs or cake styles from other bakers.

His cakes are "straight from the source" as many of the hotels and wedding planners in Negril and surrounding areas hire him as a vendor to make the cakes that you would order from the hotel.

His name is Pete and his direct number is 876-852-4522.

He is based in Negril but can deliver to other parts of Jamaica including Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

You must call him for pricing etc. as cakes vary in size and fillings, decorations.

His pricing should be reasonable but everything is negoitable so I recommend that do you best to stay within your budget.

If you can come up with something else let me know. My mother bakes cakes for a living and to not use hers would be insulting.

You are definitely right about how heavy the cake will be. I really really don't want to have to do this, and also have to bring a dress and all that OOT stuff too! Ugh not looking too good.
Did you decide what to do about this? Now my aunt in Florida is saying she will bake the rum cake for us (she's already soaking the fruit from summer) and wants to carry it down... not sure how yet!

Another dual citizen here...getting married in yaad to another dual citizen. Am I the only Jamaican who loooooves rum cake? No suh! I am in JA as we speak and met w/ 2 bakers in the Ochi area today for tastings. Both very different....1 a lighter fruit pudding, the 2nd a heavier, denser fruit cake. They are the 2 bakers that are preferred vendors of my venue, so if I venture outside of them, I will incur a $200 vendor fee and so you know the cake mus be wicked to pay that fee, plus cheaper. My wedding is for 100 ppl, so the quotes I've gotten is $500 and $700. Anyone know another baker in the Ochi area that makes a to-die-for fruit cake that makes the $200 fee worth it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
