I am getting married next February 2008... so am just in the beginning stages of picking a resort... Gran Bahia is one of the ones I'm looking at.

Thanks, and good luck!
Our travel agent actually recommended it, as she had stayed there before and said it was really beautiful. We got it for a decent price too. The WC at the resort are awesome, they are really quick to respond, and they seem very willing to do anything at all to help. I'll have to post some pics when I get back so you can see what it looks like! I have a lot of info about the resort, prices for the ceremony, extras, spa prices, restaurant info, etc. so if you'd like me to email you those things jsut ket me know. Good luck with the rest of your planning!

Hi. I am also getting married at the Bahia Principe (in April). We are staying in the Tulum section. Were you able to arrange a lot of details ahead of time? I'm thinking of contacting the wedding coordinator soon but I'm not sure if she's going to have the answers I'm looking for. Do you know what kind of flowers are going to be available and the exact timeline on the wedding day (ceremony, dinner, so on)? Right now we only have an estimate for the ceremony time and we don't have a dinner time. I'm also wondering if we can book spa appointments before we go. I know you probably don't have the answers to these questions, but I was just wondering if they were accomodating to you in working out details. I want it to be as easy and stress-free as possible when we arrive (I want as much relaxing beach time as possible :) Sorry for the long post. Feel free to ask me any questions that you might have. Last year we spent a week at the Bahia Principe in the Dominican and had a great experience, which is why we booked at this resort for our wedding. Oh yeah, how many people do you have coming?

Cheers,

Casey

Hi Casey.. I'll try to answer your questions. I was able to arrange a lot of the details beforehand, my WC name was Patricia and she was totally awesome. However, she had to leave due to family reasons and now the new WC is Yuritzia, who has not yeh responded to one of my emails.... kinda sucks. Our ceremony is at 4pm, although I have heard that it's better to book a bit earlier, as it is "Mexico time" there, and by the time you get the ceremony done (because they are always running late) it is hard to get pictures in before the sun goes down. We have 12 epople coming, so we got to choose an a la carte restaurant to have the dinner at (the WC should send you menus, etc). She also said we can decorate the tables however we want (We're bringing our own decorations). My WC told me that you can pick out flowers the day of the wedding or a couple of days before, and depending on the package you have chosen, they may just cost a bit extra. You can prebook at the spa, the email address is [email protected] and they are usually prety good at getting back to you. They can also email you an entire list of services and costs. I hope this helps you out. Oh, and contact your WC ASAP. They really are very helpful at providing info (a bit of a language barrier, but not too bad).
Happy Planning!!
Aimee

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
