Yes, we do rent this equipment. It comes with the speakers, a cd player and a wireless microphone. The cost is $250.

Great review Julie. I hesitate to read anything about the El Dorado Royale because everytime I do I want to scrap my whole guest list economical wedding at the Occidental and run away with Ryan to the El Dorado Royale and be done with it. :) The place sounds amazing.

several people have written privately since my review of EDR. I am really terrible at understanding how to write back, yes I am over 50!

Most questions have concerned swimming in the ocean. From what I could tell swimming in the ocean at EDR is not possible. You could walk the beach, wade in the water but not swim. There are huge boulders that the waves crash on about 50 yards out in the surf. I did see kayaks so there must be some access but I did not see any.

The cocktail reception offerings at EDR are wonderful. Everything from passed, buffet, etc.of the hors' and of course the bar is included so there is no extra charge. We are having the reception in one of the dining rooms, open air but large thatched roof. We are glad for that due to the heat in May.

Mallory and Matt are so excited, the STD went out and the responses are slowly trickling in.

If you have any questions I really will try to check the site more often and to respond more quickly. I think I have figured out how to reply!! (no laughing all you young brides)!

Oh my goodness... without a word of a lie.. my mom showed me your pictures! We were researching EDR for our trip (which was last week), and she found your pictures and couldn't stip talking about them (she's also a member on this forum). Small world! Anyways -I agree, the resort is amazing and if I didn't have minors in my guest list, I'd have my wedding there.

Great photos! :)

this whole swimming thing boggles me. you could when i was there in september. im back in may for a wedding. i will sure check on it. the bride and groom brought an ipod and just had the DJ play their music so i know you can do that. heres a slideshow from a wedding i shot there. you can actually see people swimming. i will check with my may bride and see if shes heard anything about swimming there. it would be a bummer if you cant!

You definately can swm there - like I said, I was there just last week. They have flagged areas for swimming (green means safe, yellow cautionary, red no-go zone)... and the GIANT sand bags makes it a little bit of a bummer to swim... but you still can!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
