Our beach reception was $2500 plus $200 for the mic/speakers hook-up.

Now, that is what we PAID although the initial invoice we were given at the resort the day before the wedding was for $8600+.

I had to argue with her about the charges b/c it was completely different than what we discussed in our emails.

Our ceremony and reception (private on the beach for 3 hours w/ 40 guests) totalled $3836 in all.

The beach reception was absolutely perfect. I hope to get a review written in the next week.

Omgosh. That is insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's why we are flying down there next week to lock in/finalize our contract so they can't try to say something different when the "final hour" comes. I have a feeling a lot of resorts do that.
My cousin was married in Puerto Plata and she said they ended up charging her for all kinds of stuff that she didn't even think about/know of in their emails. AH!

Wow!! That is such a big difference. This is one of my concerns but we cannot afford to travel down to firm up the contract so I am hoping that just keeping the emails and bringing them with me will do. I hope this doesn't happen, I am trying to think of all the possible extra charges that could come up so I get it cleared up now instead of when we are there.

Anyone know of any of the little things they charge you for that you normally wouldn't think of?

Get as mnay emails with the prices ahead of time and bring them with you. She did not argue with me once she realized I had everything printed out from the emails.

We had to pay for the wedding BEFORE it took place, so as long as you do it that way, you won't be surprised by extra prices at checkout. We got a separate wedding invoice and had to pay it the day before.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
