When we were quoted $1650+230tax to go to Mayan for our wedding we booked only the 10 required people to secure our group. Everyone else ended up paying $1100+277 tax when they booked in Sept.
That is a really good idea. I will have to do that myself!

Just a word of advice for anyone booking at the Riu Palace Punta Cana...make sure you get all the price info before you book. We have booked our wedding there for May 8th 2009 and we are now looking at the finer details of the ceremony and reception. They want $5000 for the beach reception (they say it costs this much for setting it up) and they want $5/person for a cake to feed 50 people...which we are already suppose to be getting in our wedding package. So just make sure you ask all of your pricing questions before you go so you have proof of what they quoted you.

Hi,

I just shot a wedding at the RIU Palace in Punta Cana and it rained. They were not well organized in dealing with this (even though it's not an altogether rare event). Also, the beach is fairly crowded with other guests. So, if you're hoping for great beach photos of your wedding, spend some time thinking through the logistics and try to get specific answers regarding a rain plan from the wedding coordinator before your date.

Can we see the photos that you took at the Riu Palace? Are they available on your website?

So glad to see another person is getting married at the Riu Palace. I'm getting married there on May 8, 09. I've heard great reviews of the resort and very few complaints. I haven't started working with the wedding coordinator yet but will begin to within the next month or so. I'm wanting to have a private reception but am unsure whether to have it on the beach or in one of the restaurants. Does anyone have any info on the rules regarding a private reception? The Riu seems to be a beautiful place and I'm looking forward to making the arrangements for the wedding but just like enabella, I'm lacking information. So, if anyone can help let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
