undergarment question

Recommended Posts

My dress is supposed to have the slip under it, but I didn't get it. I figured there is enough tulle underneath to make it puffy enough. PLUS, I didn't want to be way too hot. The only thing that makes me think that I should have gotten the slip is that it would help to keep the dress from going in between my legs and things. I've got a final fitting to go, so I might still change my mind. As for a bra, I'm undecided. I did buy one, but now I'm thinking about the cup thing.

Thats what the woman told me in the store is that it would keep the dress from going between my legs, but all the dresses I tried had tulle underneath anyway, so I'm at least going to try them that way. And I don't think I'll need spanx underneath because my dress won't be super tight. So then I'll just need some cups. I just don't want to be super hot either!

I'm telling you, the hoopskirt is the way to go! With those, there is nothing between your legs, and you stay way cooler. They have some hoopskirts that are very small, so you don't look like Scarlett O'Hara with a big bell around your waist. (Unless, of course, that's the look you're going for, and then you get the 6-hoop, extended version!)

The difference between a petticoat and a hoopskirt is:

Petticoat has layers and layers of tulle sewn with polyester satin, with a zip up waist.

Hoopskirt has one layer of material (usually cotton), with one or more bamboo hoops sewn in. The good ones have adjustable hoops, and are made of cotton in order to breathe better. The more hoops, the wider the skirt will look. The waist is either zip up or drawstring; mine was drawstring.

Here is a link to a hoopskirt. This one looks a bit big, but you can always adjust it, or take out the bottom hoop:

Hope that helps!

Ha ha! I know what you mean. Some bridal stores actually do carry both hoops and petticoats so you can see the difference. The nice thing is that you can make the hoops smaller, so it really doesn't look like you're the "belle of the ball". I made my hoops pretty small, and then had a small petticoat over that, just to fill out my dress more. That way, I didn't have anything tangling up in my legs, but my dress still had that elegant, "full" look. If I can find a good pic of that, I'll post it.

BTW, how do I post just one pic in a thread? I'm sorry, I know, I'm not savvy when it comes to certain internet stuff. I mean, we JUST got a digital camera back in September. I don't have an IPOD, I have no idea how to download music or use one of those Palm things...sometimes I really feel like I'm in the dark ages. Please tell me I'm not the only one who isn't up on technology, lol!

to post a pic, you can click on the insert image, but it has to be hosted on something like photobucket. If you look at the top of the message area, you will see the insert image, it is a yellow square with a mountain in it.

If you want I will pm you my e-mail if that is easier to do so I can see the pics, and I can post them for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
