Finally! Sandra's Cabo - Riu Santa Fe review

Recommended Posts

Thanks for that!

The reason why we are considering paying 500 for the disco, was because we would probably have about 2 hours between dinner and the disco opening, and i am so convinced that I will be upset if we dont have a private area to do cake cutting, speaches and first dance. The we can have our own music with us, and have a couple hours of fun before other people get to the disco. i understand where you are coming from. BUT like i said, I am a control freak... and $500 is nothing if it means i KNOW we will have the time and privacy for that stuff. Oh goodness... what to do! my FI is not much help, he just says his usual.... "whatever you want dear".

Oh what to do!

We were going to have the cocktail party basically to kill time before dinner... but i think people will enjoy the free time to freshen up in their rooms before dinner. July is going to be scorching. So maybe we can scrap that idea!

This is the way cabo flowers is going to set up our arch... picture it with white and hot pink sheer fabric... (just the arch not the chairs)

We are not ordering flowers from caboflowers, so had to rent the whole arch. This was fine by me, cuz i like the look of the wooden arch.....

OK it is starting to sound like i WANT to spend more money than i have to... its no wonder my fiance has started calling me "Holly McSpendsalot" LOL

Sandra, thanks for your advice.... I may ask more later. You looked so gorgeous and happy in your pics, and it sounds like everything was so perfect.... I wish i could just 'go with the flow'... but like a said...MAJOR control freak.

Thank you, that's very sweet of you!

Now I'm clear on the disco. You should do it if you want a private place for speeches and cut the cake. That would be your best option for what you want to do.

I do like the picture of the arch that you sent, it's very pretty. What are you going to do with the chair ties? Remember Erika only has purple and gold. Are you taking your own?

We are going to use CaboFlowers, when they bring the arch they are bringing hot pink bows to match the fabric on the arch. The riu chairs will be there covered in white, and they will put the bows on. (this will also be covered by the $150 set up fee.)

My friend just suggested instead of disco we can all head to the beach and have toasts, dance etc. But i cant imagine we can just show up and do it. PLUS... I want to have the wedding event timeline on the welcome letter. (control freak) so i can say "9-11 disco" as opposed to "9-11 lets just walk around and fin a place to hang out" LOL

Ah... time to go look at your photos again.....to see what other questions i come up with! I need to read your review again too. smile159.gif

Remember since the beach is public, people will be staring and watching. Especially around 4pm, there are a lot of people on the beach and in the pool. The pool is open till 6pm everyday so if people see a wedding going on they're all over it.

I loved having the mariachis, that's one thing I really wanted. They were fantastic and played for about an hour. But you can obviously extend the time and negotiate, we paid 500.00 for the hour.

I'm torn on the Mairichis. I really want them. But for $500 for a hour is alot I think. I know it adds to the whole picture. But we are paying for this ourselves and don't want to go overboard. But also want it nice. I don't know!!!!

I know what you mean, we also paid for our own wedding. I felt the same way and I almost didn't have them, but that's one thing that I've always wanted and decided to go for it. At the end I was glad that I did.

I think your right, but where do you cut. Everything is important I think and expecially the pictures. That's where I was going to put the extra money. That you can have forever. But we probably will bite the bullet for the band too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
