If we don't then I agree that other resorts might pick up on the idea that this is acceptable, and implement similar policies themselves. I don't view this sticky as an attack on brides that have chosen EDR as their preferred dw resort, nor do I see it as an attack on those brides that in the future might choose it. I think this sticky is important (a)to inform brides about their policies because they might not be aware of them, and (b)to give a voice to those of us who are unhappy with them. The only way to get through to greedy businesses is hurt them where it matters...$$$$$.

You don't even have to buy the day pass! Unless your photographer is there long enough to be eating a meal, then obviously you would have to buy a pass so that they can eat (why should the resort be feeding them for free?). I asked about this because was planning on hiring Claudia before deciding to fly somebody in with me. Also I hired an external videographer and didn't have to purchase a day pass. And as I posted in the DT thread, you can certainly bring flowers from Angel's, I did without a problem.

and that is one of the reason's why i recommend dreams. for an AI, they really are really accomodating to give the bride the wedding she deserves.

I am currently planning on getting married at EDR next month. Whether or not we stick with our plans to have our wedding there, we will not be recommending this resort to anyone. I have already told a friend of mine who will possibly be planning a destination wedding later this year to take her business elsewhere.

However, should the policies change, I would be more than happy to recommend EDR, as they have been accommodating and have a beautiful resort, as long as we are treated well while we're there.

With about a month to go, you might run out of options...

this is exactly my point...if the vendor policy wasn't in place and constantly changing i would refer El Dorado Royale for weddings again.

Their vendor policy is why they never even got put on our 'possible' list when we were planning our wedding.

I refused to let a resort blackmail us into using their house services.

Just say no to resorts that make things difficult for you. Dreams Tulum was more than accommodating as far as using outside vendors.

I'm pretty bummed about the whole thing cuz it was my number 1 and I have completely taken it off my list.

I also emailed the WC letting them know that this is going to hurt their business. I said that I belonged to several bridal forums and most brides that haven't chosen a resort have decided against Karisma because of this crazy policy.

Maybe if enough of us complain, it will get passed on to upper management ....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
