I sent out all our information around 2 weeks ago. My FI and I had 12 people that we really wanted to come. We talked to them about it and they all were fine with it. I was expecting some issues. When we called them to tell them we needed a depoosit (to obtain our group rate) I was affraid people would be offended or change their minds. Everyone put down deposits right away. I couldn't believe it. Our families are so excited.

However, I went into work the other day. I have invited 6 of my friends from work. I was in the back of the locker room getting ready for work. One of the new girls was rambling on how this witch with a b asked people to go to Jamaica for her wedding and how it costs $1700. She couldn't believe that the bride would be so disrespectful to expect people to pay that money. I don't know if she was talking about me, but it sounded like our wedding. After I wanted to tell her to but it calmed me. I actually heard what people would want to tell me to my face. I struggled to pick a resort that my FI and I would like, then we picked one we thought our 12 must haves would enjoy and then we made sure it was economical. So if people can't come I would be disappointed but not upset, because you understand its a lot of money.

Just don't do what one of my girlfriends friends did. She invited my friend to her wedding. They had not seen eachother in years. When my friend didnt go she got pissed. She hasn't spoken to her since. Gotta realize that there will be people who can't go and get over it and have a fantastic time inspite of it.

Its 4am what else do I have to do but rattle of a bunch of crap thats in my head :)

FI and i discussed this before we started planning. We decided to book what w wanted and could afford. If people wanted to come that would be great but if they didn't that was ok 2 really it was about us.

My family is really small now and my dad lives in Indonesia so there is no way he will be there and so I really wasn't bothered. FI isn't asking any of his family apart from his mum (because he has to!!!). The only thing that cheesed me off was we had to pick a resort that catered for kids JUST in case our friends decided they wanted to bring them. I would rather have known from the start and not be waiting on chance lol as its turned out my m8s kids aren't coming and i'm gutted.

So really you do what you want to do and people just have to deal with it. Its the one time you can be totally selfish and get away with it lmao

I had a couple of my guests ask me if they could book with a different agent..it didn't matter to me, at least they could be there. We were talking to them yesterday and they told us Sell off Vacations is offering 2 week stay for 2300 a person. I thought this was a great deal. Guests that are worried more about price should look into these kind of options. All you would need is your flight number and date of arrival and they could coinside it.

This was our #1 issue when trying to plan our wedding in Jamaica. Because I am a teacher I can only go during Christmas break or during March break, the cost per person was going to be $2300, and even our parents gave us a hard time about this price. Unfortunately that meant that we had to go during the school year (jan.12-19) and I may miss out on a job opportunity. Now the cost is $1863 per person, I realized this was still high, as we went to a wedding in Dominican Republic this January and the cost was only $1600. But luckily we just started booking last week and we already have 24 people booked!! We were both shocked! so it will really all work out in the end! If you like the ROR , definately don't change that part, I made perfectly clear to all my family that I was sticking with this resort regardless! Your price is pretty reasonable I think? Good luck!
