Maui Vacation Rentals

I've noticed that our Hawaii forum is a little lacking in terms of accomodation info compared to the other forums (Mexico in particular!). Thought I'd get the ball rolling by posting where we're staying while we're on Maui for our DW. We'll be on Maui for 6 days prior to the wedding, and for the first 5, we're staying at the Banyan Condos, in the "Maui Banyan Studio Condo" in Kihei, which we're renting from the people at the website below:

Maui Vacation Rentals Kihei Maui Hawaii

They have quite a few other units available. The "Oceanview Hideaway Studio" in Wailea sounds really amazing, but it wasn't available for the days we need. We figured it's probably just as well that we're staying in Kihei for those 5 days though, as we'll be meeting with vendors, and they're all in Kihei (and Lahaina). Still, if the Oceanview one were available, I think I would have talked the FI into it! The one we booked looks lovely though, and it's pretty inexpensive compared to hotels we saw of similar quality.

We initially found the condo listing on ..VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner® Vacation Homes Rentals by Owner, which is a great site for vacation rentals, particularly in Hawaii.

We're staying at the Wailea Marriott the night before our wedding and on the wedding night (this is where we're having our ceremony). I've started another thread on the Wailea Marriott for those who are interested.

Oh Sherry ive just looked at where your staying.I have emailed them to ask for info and when we would need to book for 2010.I mentioned that id found them via dw and i said your name was Sherry.I hope you dont mind.Every one of there condos was out of this world. We really dont want to do the high rise building and the oceanview looks just like what we are looking for.Just one question if you dont mind the rental price is that each or per room in the uk it would be each.congratulations on finding a fantastic location.x

roo- we're staying there as well, and have in the past and they are excellent condos. It is nice to have a smaller building and it's right across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches. The prices per night are for the room, not per person.

Our coordinator is Makena Weddings. We have been really happy so far with Laurie's work. This is a business she owns with her husband, who is the minister who will be performing our ceremony. I was most stressed about finding a good WC, but this one happened upon me through an acquaintance at work who I met in January who used them this year, so I was able to get a really solid referral. I even got to see the DVD of her ceremony and all her pictures.

We are booking everything "a la carte" so to speak, and then she charges 18% for her coordination fee. She has booked our ceremony & reception site, photographer/videographer, florist, hair & make-up, musicians for the ceremony, DJ & dance floor, transportation... everything pretty much. I'm pretty happy and everything has been totally stress-free up to this point.

Here's the website: Makena Weddings

Hi it sounds as if you have everything organized ive bookmarked the web address after looking through it.Are you using there photographer his photos looked good? What time have you arranged your wedding for and where are you holding the reception? As we are going alone i wanted to make sure i got something sorted for afterwards.I thought of taking a helicopter trip in the morning and then going off to have dinner and watch a hawaiian show.I want to stay in my dress all day.

I don't mind AT ALL that you mentioned my name when you enquired about the booking! I'm so happy to hear that I was able to help you out! I agree that all their condos look beautiful. I was thrilled when I found them. We're getting married this October, so I'll be sure to write a thorough review for you when we get back. I've heard from a number of people though (including Pisces) that the condos are wonderful though, so I doubt the review will be much more than confirmation of that! Oh, and to echo Pisces's comment, the rate is for the room per night, there's no additional amount for the second person. I think you'll find North American accomodation in general very affordable. Every time we go to the UK, we're in shock at how much we spend on a decent room!

We're using "A Dream Wedding: Maui Style" as our wedding coordinators A Dream Wedding Maui Style - A Full Service Wedding Coordinator on the Island of Maui. A friend of mine at work had them coordinate her wedding last year, and she absolutely raves about them. This friend of mine is incredibly detail oriented (she's an accountant!) and was very particular about everything she wanted for her wedding. I'm pretty much the exact opposite, but the fact that she loved the planners at A Dream Wedding: Maui Style so much was a guarantee for me that I would love them. We booked a basic package that included the ceremony, wedding license, officiant, flowers and a basic photography package, which we're going to enhance. They also helped with booking our venue for the ceremony and I was so happy to have help in that regard, with never having been to Maui before.

We're using Mike Sidney (Mike Sidney) for pictures. A Dream Wedding booked him for us, and they work with him a lot. My friend who got married there last year used him, and her pictures are amazing. They booked Paster Vance (Pastor Vance Ali'i Rosete - Hawaiian Minister - Maui, Hawaii) as our officiant (we're going to have a non-religious ceremony). Two of my friends have been married by him, and they and their respective husbands can't say enough good things about him. We were joking that at the rate we're going, we should practically be getting a group rate!

I booked my makeup artist and hairstylist myself, based on the recommendation of Barefoot Bride 5 on this forum. I'm having Jessica Waite for makeup and Dan Sanchez for hair. They're both amazing (based on the work on their respective websites and references), and I've found them both so professional and enthusiastic already. Dan even had me send him pictures of my hair and ideas for hairstyles already!

I suppose I should end my novel of a post now. I hadn't been on the site much lately, but I think my passion has been renewed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
