Mommies to be check in

Martha you'd have a lot better luck demanding another GBS test now... rather than waiting until delivery. You can try to ask for it at the hospital when you're admitted, but if a patient asked me that, I'd just look in their chart and see what their results were- the doc will do the same- and if they're negative they're not going to get treated. Rather than have to put up a fight on admission to the hospital- trust me, you'll have enough crap on your mind rather than dealing with that, if you want to be retested you should call his office 10 times a day until he gets you in for it. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is a good adage in this situation.

Lizz, I still can't believe your DH knows the sex and you don't Wow... talk about willpower! Good idea leaving him home while you register. Do you think he can keep it a secret for the next 4 1/2 months?

Karma- have they told you that you have to stay in the hospital for 48 hours? Were you untreated with your 1st baby, or didn't have adequate treatment, or was your baby symptomatic? At both hospitals I've worked at we only keep moms & babies for that long if they didn't have adequate treatment or if the babies had fevers, etc... Interesting. Just make sure you get to the hospital in plenty of time to get 2 doses of antibiotics in before the delivery- generally if you're treated you're good to go.

Lisa, so glad you're feeling good! I hope I'm still feeling that good at your gestation :)

Thanks, Sarah. I don't want to be restested at the hospital, I already called and they said they won't do it. I just wanted the antibiotics to be on the safe side since I was tested so early. I am going to call my OB in a little bit and just ask them to restest me!

I can't wait to get rid of this OB...even though he has been my OB/GYN for 17 years! I don't want him delivering Noah either...isn't that sad? I know he doesn't deliver on Mondays. Maybe I can bribe Noah to make an appearance on a Mondayhuh.gif

Martha, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this crap from your OB. Let us know what they say when you call them about getting retested.

I mentioned it to a few of the girls, but didn't post it here...yes, Mike knows the sex and I don't! He really wanted to find out, but finally agreed to not ask at the ultrasound. I told the tech that we didn't want to know. Well, of course, she slipped in the middle of the u/s and Mike heard but I didn't. He is really good and won't slip up (if it were reverse, the whole world would know!). But of course he's torturing me with it. Oh well! I really have no urge to find out.

I'm so excited because I just ordered the crib and dresser today. I ended up getting the DaVinci Emily. I can't wait to get it! I also ordered a Moby Wrap today. Last weekend I got a BOB jogging stroller off of Craig's List (originally $299; got it for $75 barely used). I need to stop buying stuff, but keep finding such great deals!

They won't retest you at the hospital- and they wouldn't get the results fast enought for it to matter... but have you asked your OB office to retest you? That's what I was talking about. Have them test you now while there's still time to get the results.

Chances are, if you were negative on your first test, you're still going to be negative- that doesn't change very often. But for your own peace of mind that's the route I'd go- demand to have the OB retest you in the office this week.

My sister wanted to get one of those jogging strollers but her ex-husband's name is Bob and she didn't think she could deal with his name on the baby's stroller, LOL! Haha...that's too funny!
Mo, if I even began to tell you about the rest of the stuff I've been buying...haha. I have bought a lot stuff - furniture, bedding, high chair, Jumperoo, swing, etc. - but there's still TONS of stuff that I need. I keep telling my mom that there will be plenty left to register for when she stops by my house and sees yet another purchase...lol!

I'm pretty sure Luke hates me!!!

We went to the fair last night and had a really good time. I was able to walk to whole time w/o any issues. Apparently, Luke HATES fair food!! He was pissed when we got home. My stomach was cramping so bad. I kept burping acidy stuff and threw up a tiny bit of the acid stuff.....tried to make myself throw up more but i couldn't. i layed on the couch all night and cried and could not go to sleep. I think I got like 2 hours of sleep....maybe! I swear it was the worse night ever. And to top it off, as I was going into the living room the stupid dog was laying in the f'in walk way and i tripped over him. I didn't fall but it scared the crap out of me. Stupid f'in DOG!!!!!!!! Stupid fair food!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry you're feeling so bad Lisa. I know what you mean about heartburn though. It's horrible for me. I take pepcid too and it helps.

As for the cramps, they could have been contractions or your body reacting to all the walking. I had horrible cramps the other night too, I'm pretty sure they were contractions. Maybe our bodies are actually making some progress!

I hope you get some rest tonight.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
