Private Reception at an AI

Recommended Posts

I was surprsed to learn from Tammy that some resorts do not have options for private receptions.

I was imagining a private reception with DJ/Band for my 50 guests or so, on the beach with one of those dancefloors, or in a little area elsewhere...

Is that unusual? Do most of you at AIs just have your receptions by joining the general groups of revellers?

Let me know please!

Thanks.

Well not exactly. I am yet another Dreams Cabo bride and while we are having a private reception I am aware that it is still on public grounds where guests might stand around to watch the ceremony or dance along to the reception music.

I haven't heard of any wedding crashers yet. Most will be respectful of the event. I have however heard of beach vendors trying to sell guests as they are on the beach dining or hanging out. I don't think it was Cabo or Dreams but you never know what may happen.

I would continue to plan as if it were private. Notify the hotel of your intentions and if providing at least some sort of privacy is an issue then pull from the hotel or change ideas. I would think that if a hotel can't control that they aren't worth spending your catering dollars with.

You know I alway wondered about this. If you have the reception by the pool will there be guests in the pool splashing around? I mean in all honesty I don't think it's fair to ruin other guests vacation and prevent them from enjoying any part of the grounds, but I was just wondering. This kind of stuff doesn't bother me b/c I'm pretty friendly and if someone came up to my wedding (even if they were weird) I would still welcome them and my motto is the more the merrier. I think it would be hysterical!

well, that makes sense now. since you're the one crashing everyone's wedding! i'd rather not have joe from room 480 sitting next to me at my reception dinner, but if he's walking around in the background at my welcome dinner - i can handle that!

Ann I hope you and everyone else knows that I'm only making jokes when I say that I am crashing. I've very sarcastic and sometimes I feel like everyone on the forum has known me forever and I forget that none of you have ever met me, nor do you even know what I look like. Sorry, the sarcasm is a NY thing. But seriously, I would sooner die than walk into anyone's wedding uninvited (I refuse to even go over people's home's unless I am directly invited by the host and not by a third person). Honestly I have such a serious job that I don't take life too seriously and that is why I am always joking that I am going to crash all your weddings. But don't worry I'm not going to embarass anyone like that. LOL. (BTW I know you and everyone else knew I was kidding). smile120.gif

Sorry, I've already counted you in on my final headcount for the wedding. You have to come now, or it would be rude. Besides, who's going to hold my purse?

We all know you're kidding - but I do think it would be a blast to be able to attend some of the weddings of the girls on thsi site - I feel like we've all been so involved in eachothers planning, it would be great to see it all come together!

Oh, and I have a reputation for being a HUGE smartass - no worries!

Ahhhh my problem with posting pics is that I don't know how to use my darn scanner!! Lol, I am so not a computer person! I'm sitting with my sis right now trying to get her to scan pics for me. Btw I am so not anything exciting to look at. LOL. Trust me once you see a pic you will be like "oh..."

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
