Hair Removers- Epilators?

I know we have discussed a lot about waxing, etc. But does anyone or has anyone used an epilator?

I have a really hard time in the summer at the pool/beach, etc, the sun, chlorine, salt water breaks out my skin and I get a rash from shaving.

I have already scheduled my bikini wax, but instead of leg waxing I thought I would try one of these.

I was wondering how long you hair needed to be, how painful it really was, and if they worked well. Thanks for any information you can give me.

oh my mom bought me one, she uses hers all the time since she's traveling a lot for work and can't always get in for a wax, she loves it and uses it all over...I however hate mine and it hurts me, so I think it just depends.

I will look and see what my brand is, but its a popular one.

I LOVE mine!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I use the Braun Silk Epil Xelle. (Silk-épil Xelle - Epilation - Braun)

Does it hurt? Hurt is a big word. It's not comfy, but it's not horrifically painful. Although if you're a shaver, it will hurt more than if you're a waxer. Bottom line, it pulls your hair out from the root, so it's not loads o'fun. And it takes longer than a wax, so while it's not as uncomfortable as a wax, the discomfort lasts a little longer.

But it's great - and depending on your settings, and which head you use, you don't have to wait nearly as long as you do for a wax. I do my legs every week during the summer just to make sure they are totally smooth.

I will caveat this - I do not use my epilator on my bikini line. That s**t hurts! I'd much rather go for a wax because it's over faster.

I have a Braun X'elle silk epil. It has those little rollers that are supposed to confuse your nerve endings as the hair is getting yanked out. The first few times will definitely hurt more and it will get easier as time goes on (on a pain scale of 1-10, I would rate it a 1-2 right now, 6-7 at the beginning.) I've been doing it for years now on my legs and arms. Some areas definitely hurt more than others. Pulling the skin taunt helps a bit.

G'luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
