Worst gift ever..

I found this thread yesterday and thought it was hilarious. I was having a hard time thinking of a gift terrible enough to share until the mail arrived a few minutes go and we received a wedding gift from my FI's cousin. Part of the gift is a set of coasters with our picture on it...6 different coasters with 6 different pics of FI and me!! They're heinous and will only be displayed in our home if they visit which is unlikely since they live across the country (thankfully).

I hate when people ask you what you want for a gift, if i wanted somthing i would buy it, Surprise meand im sure ill love it!

SO.NOT.TRUE. My feeling is, if they ask & you do not give them an answer, then you cannot complain about what they do give you! When they do aask though, (and you're not too keen on telling them exactly what you need) it's the perfect opportunity to say "well, we really do have everything we need"...then cross your fingers for cash!! (I know...I'm terrible!! lol)

my worst gift ever, I think was a "elizabeth taylor perfume set" from the local drugstore. Can we say LAST MINUTE and THOUGHTLESS.

What is with people and giving this book? Let people make their own decisions! You don't need to make them feel like an a-hole for making a choice by giving them a book that confirms that yes..indeed...you are making poor life decisions! I wish I had kept that book to wave in my uncle's face now!

Funny, I was just thinking about this today.

 

I understand a gift is a gift no matter what it is, but...We got a gift from our friends, a couple who had gotten married a few months before us, it was this hideous set of dishes. Like truly bad.

Let's just say that it isn't our style and sure as heck isn't their style so I'm pretty confident that it was a gift for their wedding that they decided to pass on to us. I sort of want to keep it until the next wedding to pass on to the next friend as a joke, or send a comment in their thank you card saying something about them being really generous to slip $300 in the box of dishes:) Is that evil?

Haha, Kellis. Love it, I say be evil and do that, lol. Regifting a gift they hated to you for your wedding is just rude.

Love it!! You should totally do that! I think lots of people see weddings as an easy/convieniant place to get rid of gifts they got that they hate or have no use for.

I ended up with a giant ceramic strawberry filled with those strawberry candies that have the strawberry wrappers. Bad but not so bad right? Well, those candies were all melted and tasted rancid.

 

Gotta love the White Elephant (and we play "nice gifts" white elephant not crappy stuff)
