My bridesmaids hate their dresses!

Recommended Posts

I couldn't believe it! it is like 1 month and a couple weeks to my wedding and I have to find new bridesmaid dresses! We ordered the Victoria's Secret 1 dress 7 ways. and they HATE it. that was the word they used! I couldn't believe it. well it is 2 out of 5 of them that have the problem. my MOH isn't to fond of it, but doesn't really care (because, hello! it's my wedding) 2 bms hate them and the other 2 and keeping pretty tight lipped so it is hard to say. they said they didn't like the material was more like spandex, not jersey like it had said, they hate all 7 ways of wearing it, they think they look bad in it, and they hate the colour (sour cherry). the thing is, If i were paying for the dresses i would say suck it up and keep practicing how to tie it. but they are paying for them, and well the dresses arn't cheap. it came to $135 CND with taxes and duty. I just don't feel right having them pay for something they hate so much. So i told them to give them back and i'll return them. I'm just beside myself. I wish they would have spoken up before they were ordered.

Sorry sad.gif I guess it was one of those things that they didn't know they weren't working until they got them in the mail. I wouldn't be happy with spandex-like material but I'm also not a skinny minnie...lol If it's any consolation, I had to make a last minute BM dress change too. That was what started my nervous breakdown but luckily I snapped out of it fast! What a hassle to have to worry about in the final stretch!

I'm not familiar with Canadian stores but my BMs got their last minute dresses from David's Bridal which are all over the U.S. If you aren't opposed, do you have anything like a Target or Macy's there? You can just make them all go and pick a style they agree on, it won't cost much, and they can leave with it same day.

Good luck and remember when you want to slap them that it doesn't matter in the end so try to take it in stride :)

I asked my 2 BM's about that 7-in-1 dress from VS too.. both of them said they didn't like it either so I didn't order it. Maybe your BM's didn't think they would hate it until they tried it on? Sometimes the material is hard to tell from the pictures... either way, it sucks for you that you have to find something else! sad.gif

well...... they arn't forgiving. I think they look ok. they dress is tricky.

so yes, I will have to return them and take them all shopping again. or not. I don't care how it looks anymore. maybe I should just let them sort it out and choose a dress.

Oh I am ssoo sorry to hear that. But, I've seen those dresses and I think they only look good on the models. Just something about being able to move that material in so many ways that freaks me aout about finding the right "fit" for me too.

I would see about having them all pick their own style in the color of your choice from David's or a similar store.

aah I've said it before and I'll say it again, thank god I am not having BM's.. takes all the stress out of it. I am sorry to hear they hate it, they should have been more honest with you in the first place. Hope you find something that they all like (and that is hard.. I just look at my 5 friends and not one of them has the same dress taste as the other..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
