Recommended Posts

hey married ladies-

i was wondering what you did about kids at your reception. i was planning on having 1 "kids table" with crayons, games, etc. but what about when they get tired- did you guys have a sitter or did you let the parents worry about it all? thanks in advance

What about having some sand toys for them? My grandmother was at a wedding where the kids actually passed out the favors, just to keep them busy...that's an idea

I saw this on the knot and actually saw the books and crayons on oriental trading company for really cheap.Click the image to open in full size.

I'll probably do that as well - and I plan on making them their own special little OOT bag w/stuff to keep them busy. If it turns out that a lot of people are bringing their kids, I may look into hiring a nanny for the wedding. But most that are coming are old enough to kind of be on their own, or their babies and can't go very far! I may ask the parents what they'd prefer.

We hired a nanny who sat totally bored as it wasn't needed.

We had a lot of kids who ranged from 4 to 15. They danced the whole time (there are tons of pictures of them), hung out together (they'd all been together for days so they had their own games of tag and hide and seek going without anyone needing to do anything), and just generally enjoyed themselves.

Our wedding wrapped up around 10:30 or 11. Those with kids left around 10 (or one left and the other stayed). It worked out great for everyone. No need to do anything.

I'm going to have the older kids at the reception - as tammy & natalie said, i'm sure they will be entertained! i do have some friends coming with babies though and we will need to figure out babysitter. i think we will probably get nannies thru dreams. maye also said she could give me a recommendation. be aware that after 10pm, you have to pay extra (i think $30) for their taxi fare since there are no more buses. i'm going to email maye again for rates, so i'll let you know.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
