Rachel's Las Caletas Review/ Wedding Recap

Recommended Posts

Rachel, thank you again so much for your review, and may I also join the call to see more pictures please when you get them!

I am also so excited to have you shoot our Nathaniel! Now that things have really fallen into place I am relaxing and actually let myself picture the whole thing! As of today we have officially got room blocks for both our American and Canadian guests at the Dream Hotel, so that's one more thing down!

Oh yeah, and I'm starting Team-in-Training next week so hopefully my legs will be in solid shape for going up and down the stairs by January!

Oh, there's drinking on the day trip! That is how I did my site visit, and they were bringing us tequila sunrises and stuff the moment we got on the boat!shots.gifshots.gifshots.gif

There wasn't a steamer at the hotel and they could send it out to get steamed but I didn't trust to get it back. As I was ironing all the groom's and best man's outfits I thought "hmm...maybe I should try to steam the dress out with the iron." So I began to steam the dress- worked out ok. I was nearly done and I accidentally touched the lace overlay with the iron and melted/scorched a hole in it. It was one spot about a dime size and another between a nickel or quarter in size. I freaked out- started to panic. Wanted to show Steve the hole, but I also didn't want him to see the dress since I didn't let him see it for nearly a year.

I told him what I did and started to cry. He reassured me a little then called my mom to come look. My mom couldn't believe how stupid I was so she called my sister to share the story. My sister came over and they both made fun of me for a bit. Then they both reassured me it wasn't that bad since it was on the upper butt area and no one would notice. I don't know if they meant no one would notice because it was small or no one would notice because they wouldn't be looking at my butt.blush2.gif

I just decided to get over it and have a gives.gif attitude. It was easier to make jokes about it than to cry about it. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of it. I should have, but I didn't. sad.gif Who knows- maybe I will have a lot of pictures of it if it shows up on film. hehe

I've emailed my photog to find out when I get pics back. Haven't heard from her but my contract says 3 weeks. According to my calculations, one more week. cheer2.gif

Ooooh yes, and they make excellent pina coladas too. Make sure you get some of those on the boat if you like them cause they don't have blenders on the island!! shots.gif

Make sure you have the rum punch - not sure if they have this during the day tour (I can't remember it) but on Rythms of the night they have it for sure - it is to die for!!!! We requested to have that specifically as our "drink" for the wedding - so Nicole made sure we had lots of it for the reception - and on the boat!!!! friday.gif

On another note - I am seriously considering organizing a BDW get together/LC trip for next March - would anyone be interested? I'm thinking we could do something similar to what Tammy (host) is doing in Cabo this year - except do it in PV and have everyone go to Las Caletas!!!!!

Anyone interested? Maybe I need to create a new thread!

HMMMMMMM

(sorry for the hijack! - I tried to find the smiley - couldn't find it!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
